#2442554 2600 ... or 2600?

Posted by user42 on Wed Jan 11, 2012 8:09 PM

Let me explain this, if I got a high score of 1900, that would be one thousand 9 hundred. Would Americans call that nineteen hundred?

It can go either way. It is up to the person.

Interestingly, the even thousands are always called such. Example- 2000 is never called "twenty hundred" (always "two thousand") but 2100 can be "two thousand, one hundred" OR "twenty one hundred"....

#2353847 Please catch me up on the last 2 years

It would not be Atari Age without a page full of sarcastic answers so....

RomHunter shot and killed a hunting partner while trying to take down a wild Airworld. They say it was an accident but only him and the roms know for sure....

#2259402 VES/Channel F original designer has passed away

Jesus Christ! This poor guy just got some kind of lifetime achievement award for gaming. Then he helped released those six lost 2600 games. All I can say is God rest and Thank-you!

Thank god he finally got the recognition he deserved before he left us.... It is sad to see him go. I wish all the best to his family and friends in this time of sorrow.

That's normal when you get a woody. Don't worry.

#2245944 Battlestar Galactica?

Posted by user42 on Tue Mar 29, 2011 9:43 AM

i think a fonz game would be pretty cool - try to jump a shark tank with a motorcycle.

Awesome! Add in a bonus round where you get to punch a Jukebox (a la Street Fighter)....

Come on homebrewers...get on it...

#2245530 Battlestar Galactica?

OK, one of the biggest motion pictures of that era was Smokey and the Bandit. Why did no company license it for VCS or INTV?

First one....

(Note: these are not my work, I found them)

There is also the mindset that if you own something that is so rare that it is undocumented, it makes it all the more special.

...and that is prob the real reason why we don't have scans yet.

Out of curiosity, do you own a single Atari cart?

Why don't you guys quit begging and start saving your pennies, drop the $2k+ yourself and scan the fucking thing?

Now we have Rom beggars AND manual beggars. What's next?

I play games in emulation but I have bought and scanned many manuals (and then sold them, usually at a loss). The last 3 carts I had I sent to Zwackery free of charge as a thanks for all his help. And calling me a beggar may be a bit out of line...I did not start this thread nor did I ask for any scan in this thread, only added my opinion.

I like this guy. He wasn't just a hardcore collector but he was a hardcore gamer. This is the collection of someone that loved to play. Look at 'em, those games have been well played....boxes, who needs 'em.. just give me games and lots of them.

#2228847 Found Potential Rare Atari Games

Posted by user42 on Tue Mar 8, 2011 6:44 PM

Who ever bought all of their games at the same store??? or even the same town?? We would drive hours to go to the mall. I have been in many, many stores that sold games in the 80's. And I remember seeing some "rare" titles in discount stores. None of this should be unbelievable....

The op had stated that her father was "crazy about collecting Atari", clearly if he is the kind of guy to order Video Life, he is also the kind of guy to check every game outlet he can for titles that he doesn't have....

Also he did not die untill '88. If he was collecting till the end he could have been buying up other peoples collections at yard sales. By '88 many people were dumping Atari 2600.
