  1. I must be the only person on the planet who enjoyed the RTS Warrior of Rome ll.
  2. Never bought a cd but I did download several tracks from "Bejeweled Twist".
  3. I'll be wanting this game but I suspect it'll be beyond the capabilities of my laptop, which at this time happens to be my most powerful computer.
  4. "Dungeon Master was great. I never got through it. Do you have a preferred version? There a lot of remakes of it and I'm thinking about looking around for one." The original DM on the ST. Sort of an anti-climax at the end but RPG's were still growing. "I dont have any issues playing offline with Steam although its a little offbeat to setup. If I remember you have to download it and install and possibly play the game once and after that you can set it to offline mode using the Steam client. I have many casual games set up that way for my family to play on other computers. Just can't remember the exact process. " Seems to me from the problems I've had, that the first thing Steam wants to do is look for an existing update. If Steam thinks an update might exist, but fails to detect an internet connection then too does the offline mode fail.
  5. Nobody remembers Command and Conquer 3? Buy the retail version, still have to download another 15 meg (whatever size it was) patch/update, only to still get the error message *you must have a retail copy of this game to play*. Uhm duh. I just bought the retail version. Quite a bit of flack on the forums about it way back when. Of course EA was oblivious. I always suspected the failure was due to EA's DRM copy protections. I've tried not to make any purchase of games affiliated to EA since. If EA wants to be the piracy police more power to them. But if they punish retail buyers for purchasing their software then as a company they should fail. Wishful thinking. The government would probably just bail them out.
  6. Couldn't resist this purchase on Steam. Great anticipation for the old Dungeon Master feel. I remember through the years how so many critics lamented about how a new game was just another Dungeon Master clone. If a games great, it's great. My only concern is purchasing from Steam. Have had endless grief with Steam trying to play in offline mode. Have STeem loaded on my laptop. Several iterations of DM going on there. Now I can have the best of both worlds. Old school and new old school.
  7. I want to reach out and look at each one. Any early STart mags?
  8. Starcraft certainly. Many others. Have to think awhile.
  9. Simple edit to my previous post. Insert "Sin" in place of "Blood". Apologies to "Blood" players. And a big rasberry to the makers of "Sin".
  10. One thing immediately comes to mind for me. Dexterity. The game "Daxter" for the PSP is one such example. One dexterity level after another. Hey! I'm just not that good with the thumby thingys on any system which has them. Give me a mouse with two buttons and a scroll wheel. "Daxter"...shelved. "Final Fantasy II". Go a few steps, fight, go a few steps, fight. Tedious. I did finish it though. But I sure can't stomach a second go at that tedious game. Shelved. "Doom 3". Reach a certain spot, (same spot every time), click, out go lights, fight creature you can't see, too dark. "Doom 3" ...shelved. "Blood". Blue screen of death, Blue screen of death, Blue screen of death, Blue screen of death, Blue screen of death. "Blood"...shelved. Many different reasons, many different games.
  11. I started computing on my Atari 1040ST. Insert disk. Let computer read disk. (Maybe many times). Oops. Ejected disk while drive was still reading disk. Disk ruined. I learned early on to try and make a copy of my legally purchased software and then using the "Copy" as my working disk. That's my idea of fair use. I remember when some companies included a card you could mail and get a backup copy of the original software at a seriously discounted rate. I did that many times as well. Nowadays, the whole issue is seriously muddied.
  12. Unreal Tournament 2004 is a blast, though it's a bit dated. Your rig will easily handle it.
  13. Hardware upgrades. Sometimes I feel silly spending a good chunk of change on new hardware just because I want to play the latest greatest game. New bigger RAM capacities. New video cards. New hard drives. Sometimes new sound cards. Also, I remember buying Command & Conquer 3. All excited and stuff. Only to get the message that I needed to have the original disk, not a copy. Hey!! I just spent $50 on your retail game and now you're trying to tell me all I bought was an illegal copy version. Bullshit! I had to go online and find a crack of the exe. just to play that DRM monstrosity. As I remember, I also had to go online and download an additional 15 meg addition just to play. If I remember correctly, This was EA giving everybody a taste of their heavy handed approach to piracy protection. In any event, this particular game started my revulsion for modern gaming. Though I am having a blast with Borderlands now.
  14. Finally after a long wishing and wanting spell, I have a Falcon, thanks to poobah.
