  1. Managed to nab one tonight at my local TRU <San Pedro and 281 SATX> They had the Intellevision and Atari Flashback systems as well. Had to get an override, but they had no issues about selling them. Ran into a friend of mine who nabbed the Intellevsion one. Hopefully they won't clear the shelves tomorrow after having to do the manager overrides.
  2. Sounds like Lock-On by Tatsumi/Data East
  3. The one eyed alien from Space Fury.. when I was little he scared me to death, with speech synthesis being in it's infancy, his booming voice would freak me out. I used to call him the "one-eyed slob" then too... my parents thought that it would scare me away from video games forever.. boy were they wrong! *lol*
  4. The back slot under the cover is where the battery is stored for the internal memory, it's easily changed out.. also that's the expansion port for the Video CD/Photo CD card, certian Japanese games had the ability to display full screen MPEG video for cutscenes and such.
  5. Finally, after a few months of not being able to go out, I hit a couple of flea markets today. I came home with Starship Hector for $3, which was fantastic because it finishes off my NES Hudson Caravan collection. I also found Little Ninja Bros. for $3, and Illusion of Gaia for $4... so overall not too bad a day, but I still wish that my area had more to offer in terms of flea markets and goodwills.
  6. I live in San Antonio and back in the 80's I can remember quite a few arcades.. of course there was the convenience stores in my neighborhood, one of them I frequented, a Circle K had different games constantly. I remember playing SMB 2 on a Playchoice 10, Solar Warrior, Section Z, Vulgus, Rastan, and various others there. There was McCreeles Mall, which first had a Gold Mine which was a narrow room full of games, was the first place I played Street Fighter 2, Double Dragon, Ninja Warriors, Robocop 2, and others. Later the mall renovated, and with it Gold Mine disappeared to become Tilt, which was about 3x larger, and had more games and redemption games, they carried games like Martial Champion, Irritating Maze and other things.. Windsor Park Mall was another mall I frequented with my parents, Aladdin's Castle was the main arcade, and that always featured the newest and a lot of the times, obscure games, like Lifeforce, P-47, New Zealand Story, Nastar Warrior, Pac-Land and various others. It was also the place I played the full size Galaxy Force game, and one of the places that would get the newest Neo Geo and Street Fighter updates. The small theater next to it was always interesting as well, as they kept a lot of their classic games, and had obscure ones like Shanghai Kid, Omega Race and others. The mall later opened up an upstairs arcade and that featured games like G-loc, Lock-On, Turtles in Time and others. Gosh, without going into details, other arcades I visited were in Rivercenter Mall, South Park Mall, Ingram Park Mall, Rolling Oaks... Peter Piper and Pistol Pete's Pizza had arcade games... Diversion's.. Cyber Zone... which were later on in my teens, but I still count them. Oh and I forgot about Diamond Jim's and Rocky J's... Needless to say, San Antonio has been pretty fortunate in terms of having arcades, with a lot of variation. Sure there were the usual Street Fighters, Pac Man, 4 player Konami games, etc. but in my time in this town (all my life) I've been lucky to play a lot of great games, and a lot of obscure games that even friends of mine who have lived here in the same town don't even remember, but I chalk that up to me really enjoying the arcade scene.
  7. Well I really wouldn't count this as a "thrift find" more than a "what I bought with trade-ins this weekend", but this weekend I made the trip up to Austin to visit Game Over Games, and traded in some old import Saturn games and Neo Geo Pocket games, and got a decent amount of credit. With that credit I picked up Hokuto no Ken for PS1, the awesome one, not the poorly done graphic comic one, as well as Golgo 13 and Dungeon Magic for the NES. Aside from that there were a lot of things I was tempted to spend my money on, however I decided to be good and not go nuts. *lol* Also! A question to Bruce Tomlin..... I saw copies of Hokuto no Ken and Ringside Angel for Mega Drive... you wouldn't have happened to trade those in did you?
  8. I hadn't gone out to the flea markets in a while, so I decided to hit them today. Not much was found that I didn't have already in my NES collection, but I finally did come home with Rescue Rangers and Ducktales for $4 a piece. One place had import copies of Macross for PS2, which I considered till I saw the $40 price tag, and a copy of Giant Gram for DC for $15, which I own already. Overall it was a pretty average day for going out for roughly 3-4 hours.
  9. Just got back from the flea market, the usual amount of stuff was out there but the only thing that caught my eye was a copy of Tombs and Treasure for NES, in box, with instructions. I talked the guy down to $5 from $7, so that's my big find for the day.
  10. Hm.. I'll post a not too special flea market haul that I had yesterday : Ironsword: Wizards and Warriors 2 - $2 Skate or Die NES - $1 Saturn Bomberman case $1 - the guy sold this to me because it had Batman Forever inside of it, I passed on Batman and bought the case as I own a copy of Saturn Bomberman without the manual, so now I have a complete copy. This is the first time I've done something like this to complete a casing *lol* But there ya go, not overly special.
  11. Thanks.. it was really nice to find something there, as usually it's bum standard NES games.. although that was the place I found S.C.A.T, which I was very pleased to find, and I also found oddly enough, an import copy of Virtua Fighter Remix for the Saturn *lol* who knows, this is on the southwest side too, where it would be less common to find something like that..
  12. Hi folks, new guy here, from San Antonio.. just wanted to post a "thrift find". Went to the local flea market that I visit on occasion, and was surprised to find a somewhat beat up Nomad with no cords for $5... couldn't believe it, but when I plugged in a 9v adapter it worked perfectly Definately one of the best finds in a long time!
