  1. I was also in the camp of kids that saw the Jaguar as an exotic console. I remember going into the local KB Toys during the liquidation and being absolutely floored to see new Jags in a pyramid to the ceiling for $35.00 each. My past experience with the Jaguar was renting it once from the local video store and playing AvP obsessively over the weekend. (Years later I would buy all of the store's rental carts on it's closing) I was there with my girlfriend and money was tight so I was trying every way on Earth to convince myself to leave. I did finally get out to the car and sat there for about five minutes before I marched right in and got myself into the 64 club. It felt like opening a time capsule. Later that night we played Zool together and had a really great time with it. I guess you can say my Jag memories are great ones.
  2. I really want to get into 3D gaming but I already own a 52 inch 1080p LCD. I can't imagine having to upgrade already. Ugh.
  3. Maybe, but I've sworn off Samsung after they screwed up my Bluray player. Sorry to hear that man. Was it a profile 1.1 player? I've only used PS3 for BR.
  4. Samsung HDTV's are anything but sucky. Samsung is the leader now after beating Sony a few years ago. They are pretty much universally praised. This is not the same company we all hated who used to make horrible tube SDTVs back in the day. They went from bargain crap to cutting edge pretty darn quickly. In any effect I have tested over 20 HDTV's in home as they came to the market. (was very picky and wanted to REALLY see what was what) I now have a 52 inch Samsung LCD and 50 inch Samsung DLP. Both take composite video with absolutely no problem. (120hz and 60hz) I don't see how the refresh rate will affect anything. The SNES is a 60hz device and Samsung's plasma line accepts both 60hz and 72hz native. The Plasma will do all the conversions it's self. I don't think it's even possible for it to try and ask more of the console making it overheat. Overheating is most likely due to your power adapter about to die. Mine heated up and practically burned out. I've never seen a composite/component hybrid connection but as another poster said, it's 90% likely you just need to toggle between the two modes in the menu. I don't think analog sources can auto detect. The "weak signal" error pretty much confirms it. Your friend just needs to use an S-Video cable and be done with it. If you can give me the model number of the TV I'd be happy to try and help. HDTV's play 2D games soooooo nice. Old 3D not so much.

  7. The first game I ever played was River Raid. I didn't get into gaming hard core until the end of 8-bit and 16-Bit eras. I was also a very heavy arcade Street Fighter player. We used to play for money and have a blast. The Dreamcast was special for me as it was the system that got me into the industry and the Xbox consoles as well because they to a degree re-birthed the "Arcade" culture by allowing players to meet and compete. I consider the single player era of the PSX, N64 and etc to be the dark ages. I love social gaming. I personally am jealous of all the younger gamers. You can play the classics anytime you want! Dying before the next amazing virtual reality revolution in gaming is not fixable. lol
  8. I heard it was going to be next door to a place called Game Galaxy. lol
  9. I find LCD and plasma to have a much better image with classic 2D systems. Tubes introduce too many distortions. Pixels for pixels as they say. Get good cables or even better a video mod and be amazed. Look at the longhorn posts here on AA. As others have said though, early 3D systems don't look so hot though unless upscaled.
  10. If for any reason anyone wants to sell their premium let me know.
  11. Jet Jaguar RULES! Too bad the lower movie wasn't actually called: "King Kong For Christmas!" This year, Santa delivers TERROR!
  12. Shoot the green things he spits at you back at him. When he shows his tongues rip them off with the ghost slam move. Repeat three times. I have the Wii, Xbox 360 and DS versions. I do think it's worth playing both the Xbox and Wii games. Different enough to still be fresh.
  13. Thanks for the info. I've been waiting on an official response from Infogrames and Interplay and figured I would ask here too since I was idle. Onlive looks interesting as well. Supposed to go to a private showing in LA next week. Ninja Golf is quite fun. I think today's market would appreciate the quirky humor more than it's launch audience. It's by far my favorite 7800 game.
