My friend used to play it here in the Uk, I will ask him but its a good few years ago now. He realy enjoyed it he was allways bannging on about how he was married in ultima lol. be carefull of people that invite you into there house they can kill you and take all your items aparently.

ebay - Prayer. seriously one of the bigest issues i found were shisters putting mint photos of carts on auctions and then in tiny writeing at the bottom of the acution "this is not the actual cart pic..". Trying to find people stash in the wild - much much better odds are these have been stowed away for years usualy in a box in someones footlocker. The bigest advantage is that your average joe will not know the true value of the cart, I got roadrunner for £1 of someone like this (sadly unboxed but what can you do lol). My friend got the bug for atari after playing on the 2600 set up at my house and went back and put a message on his company buliten board and managed to get a few people with systems and games so he was well chuffed. much much cheaper than ebay.

Exelent! Realy for one person thats a brillant job. Why not release the book as a PDF on DVD ect.. or digital download im sure im not the only one who would buy that.

No it didnt, luckly the chap is accepting a paypal payment so looks like the problems solved maby his messages got lost in a spam filter (but its set to low so it would have been realy unlucky). I wish i knew someone in germany lol so many cool atari items get sold on the german ebay but they only ship to germany usualy.

Ahh i new i shouldnt have used non-english speaking sellers, Im never doing this again. Just a complete waste of time. I have nothing against the seller, I not assuming its his fault just probably a missunderstanding (thus the name is not here). I was trying to get hold of some German 2600 games, There was this one seller who was willing to send to the uk and i though cool, one of his payment options was cash so i thought ok There was no paypal but i thought ah well no big deal. Theres also bank transfer but that costs £18 to send so thats a nono. Well i win the auction and it comes to payment and he send the bank tranfer info, I send him a email saying no way am i paying £18 to send £19 quids worth of stuff. I asked him to mail me his address and i would send him the money by post or paypal. No reply.... I figured well maby hes wasnt so intrested or maby he dosent understand or somthing so i figured well maby wait a bit perhaps hes busy... more time passes. I log in today and thers a dispute consol, I send the same message i did before - I need your address so i can send you the money by post. Im not paying for a bank transfer as its £18. hmmm has anyone had a similar problem? Why on earth dont they use paypal. It makes no sence if your going to ship internationaly why you would insist on such a shitty system as bank transfer. lol and because of this ebay is threatening to close MY account!

Ok, lets look at this another way. all the previous found protos rares that have gone sour (red sea crossing is probably the best example) it comes down to the money. If the perceived high value atached to a potential sale of the item in question was not there then we would have a rom avalible for all of these. it was the greed of the owner that stoped these titles comming into the public domain for them to be apreciated. Now i apreicate that your all worried that a dishonest person might do exactly the same thing that you are intending to do (sell a copy of a cartridge that they have no right to and derive a profit from that sale). To present the argument that your doing it for the good of the comunity is wrong you are seeking to make a profit out of someone elses work, this no matter how you cut it is wrong. if you were to release the cart at cost price, this is slightly less of a moral issue and the argument that it was in the public intrest might hold more water. but if it was truly a public intrest thing/good of the comunity whatever why not just release the rom, let others make there own cart if they realy want to but the minuite that you start reporduceing carts that you dont own the rights to leaves you vunerable to litagation. We all know how easly people are to go the legal route especialy if they think theres a $$$ in there. for myself if someone started produceing copys of my programs (highly unlikely but hey) and makeing a profit off my work then i would be pissed even if it was 25 years later. its the principle of the thing. Would it not be better if you wanted to make a profit from the manafacture of the cart to seek out who actualy owns the rights to the title and purchace a option from them? this was done by amstrad and they got some sweet deals but also the orignal programers got paid for what they did as well. If its comercialy unviable legaly then why produce the carts in the first place? why not release the rom enjoy the fact that you own a very rare cart that has little chance to depreciate due to the fact that true colectors will want the bona fide cart and not a repro/hack.

Thats a great find, wish i could have that luck! If someone trustworthy has a copy of the orignal unhacked rom in a safe place (dosent need to be avaible to the public - a number of roms are kept like this when the owners were worried like you were.) One thing i would say was if your not incharge of the interlectualy property rights to this title why are you so keen to alter the title to stop other people from doing exactly the same thing as you? I meen essentialy with a new backswitching method this is a hack of the orignal its not the same thing as what you found even if the gameplay is unnafected this is still a derigitive copy. I think this is what people are getting upset about. Now im not so sure this is about preservation of the orignals, its more to protect your potential profit from the sale of somthing you dont realy have a right to be publishing. even if the guys dead, the compnay property rights ect had to go somewhere. I just get a bad feeling that some big city laywer type will come in a but the brakes on this. Thats like me finding a little known film by some dead director and making copies myself because no others are know to exist, just because i found the media and a copy its not like i bought the rights to distribute the product.

Yea i was just going to use a NTSC converter with the tv, hopefully that will fix the majority of issues. plus them brazilan units are pretty dam cool!

I got a Pal one in the end, i have my eye out for a brazilan 2600, (been checking out the brazil ebay but waiting to make a move). I will get some work done when base atack releases its evil hold on me. hahaha
