Years ago when I was young I started collecting video game consoles, however I stopped at only a few Atari 2600's and about 50 or so games I scrounged from local garage sales.
Feeling a bit of a revival lately I dragged my large chest of gaming paraphenalia out of my closet and started looking up some of my games on your website. Having alot of second and third copies of some of the very popular games; Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Missle Command, etc, I was quite surprised to find that my copy of Gas Hog was listed as rare.
I hated the game, myself (very awkward gameplay) but now I'm curious as to what benefits having such a rare game can have. All I have is the cartridge; no case or documentation, and the front label is torn away - about 60% of it is missing, but the game itself does work.
How would I be able to find out how much this may be worth to a collector? Not that I'm looking to sell it, but I am interested in learning about such a thing. Does having it's label torn dramatically reduce its potential value, and if so, can a replacement label be created to restore some or all of that lost value? Who would even be interested in buying a game like this? Would it be better for me to keep it or sell it?
I'm very interested and eager to see what becomes of this.
