  1. Just for the heck of it, I tried the same thing with Midnight Magic, taking a cue from the picture on the cartridge label. The flippers work (using the fire buttons), but there's no way to pull the plunger back.
  2. 1. Why do early games call them "Standard Paddle Controllers"? I always thought the joystick was the "standard" controller. 2. Is there any way to tell which paddle to use for a one player game (other than fiddling with both to see which one works)? 3. Are there any games that have one player use both paddles?
  3. Good luck. Hope you do better at the flea market than I do... I end up digging through endless Combat, Pac-Man, and Asteroids carts, and the rarest cart I've found is the Sears version of Yars' Revenge (rarity 4).
  4. 59 cents?! Nice. Where did you find 'em?
  5. Article scanned and email sent. Save yourself a trip to the bookstore.
  6. I have a subscription. I'd scan the article, but a) I don't have a place to upload the file, and b) the scans always end up being big, bloated files that might be awkward for dialup users.
  7. I'm desperately looking to expand my collection, which is stuck at 16 carts, nothing rarer than 4. Anyone here know of any flea markets, thrift stores, Goodwills etc. in central New Jersey?
  8. I'm stuck at 16 carts right now - nothing rarer than 4. There are no thrift stores or Goodwills around where I live, and there's only one flea market that's prohibitively expensive. I'll never build a collection this way! -Frustrated Matt
  9. When you find the issue, the article begins on page 23. The reference to AtariAge is in the last paragraph on the bottom right of page 25. A bit behind? They still have June 2002 listed as the current issue!
  10. Anyone here read Poptronics magazine? The August 2002 issue has an article on the 2600. Mostly a brief history, but still interesting. The article even mentions AtariAge.com!
  11. Try as I might, I can't figure out the Blue Labyrinth (the manual calls it blue, but it's kinda purplish on my TV). I'm guessing it's roughly symmetrical, and some of the screens form an endless loop. I get even more lost in the Level 2 Catacombs, which seem to have no symmetry at all. Anyone got a map?
  12. What exactly is a Cthulhu? I know I've heard the name before...
  13. Easy on the UV rays... melanoma is the last thing I need.
  14. Frogs and Flies. The Intellivision version is much better (i.e., the bugs actually look like bugs instead of flying dots).
  15. Let's see... 12 keys per Keyboard Controller, two controllers... I'd like to see how that text entry system would work.
