  1. I might have to try some of these games mentioned. What about River raid II. It seems this game sells for more today than it did 15 years ago. Whats so great about it? How are the graphics? I have the original River Raid and enjoy it except I wish I did no have to start completely over after getting way way up the river in more challenging areas. I guess the best looking games do not always sell for the most. There must not be as many of the River raid II available as others mentioned. I have not seen an Atari 2600 game command more for money than river raid II. Are there some? It must look and play great!
  2. I was wondering what you might think is the best looking/best graphics game for the 2600. Maybe a top 3? Solaris for one..I still cannot believe its a 2600 game. Others....
  3. thanks for the input... Troy
  4. I see these are the same games. Can anyone tell me if they play differently or LOOK differently as far as graphics? If I were to buy one is there one better than the other? Thanks Troy
  5. Thanks for all the input.. Any suggestions of other 2600 games that LOOK this great? How about river raid II? Except one cannot find one for under $30. Pretty stiff for a 20 year old game. Must be good.. Troy
  6. Picked this game up for $1. Great graphics for the 2600. It has to be one of the better looking 2600 games. I was hoping someone would help be figure out how to play the game. I see a map and I move to squares that are blank or have certain symbols in them. I just keep wharping to thee quadrants and fight the fighters? If anyone has a few minutes and wants to give me the basics on what to look for on this map and how to play the game would be much appreciated. Also what other games look this great for the 2600 and play this well. I can imagine it will be even better once I know how to completely play the game. Thanks Troy
  7. Ok I may as well give up on a s-video output. Is anyone using an RF modulator? I assume somewhere out there someone (Radio shack) has a contrption that allows one to have a coax input in and composite and audio outputs? I have an RF DE-modulator that alows audio left/right input and composite input and its output is coax. I need something to do the opposite of this for the 7800. Does it exist? If so I bet its more expensive than the actual 7800. I guess I may have to stay with direct coax hookup. Troy
  8. Al, Much appreciated. I'm with you. I have no intentions of opening my 7800 and looking or attempt to do it myself. I just thought someone on here would be advanced enough o have done this and maybe It can be done for a reasonable price. Thanks again Troy
  9. I was wondering if anyone has modified their 7800 to output composite or even better s-video. If so does it give you any better picture? I assume doing this one would get new audio outputs as well? Does anyone offer this as a service and HOW much? Thanks Troy
  10. I was hoping with the vast amount of information on the internet someone can direct me to somewhere I can print scanned copies of various owners manuals for the Atari 7800 games. It would be nice to know what various games levels, players, and other little features some games have that can only be found in the owners manuals of these games. Some games have you push the fire button to change game level settings, player levels etc..Including the switch by the controllers. anyone now where I can find Atari 7800 game manuals? It seems most of them are only two - three pages long. Thanks Troy
  11. so the switches have no effect on 7800 games, only difficulty on 2600 games? Thanks again Troy
  12. Since I bought my 7800 from Ebay with no manual can someone quickly tell me what the switches are for that are located next to where the controllers plug in? Also I assume the switch on the back next to the video output I assume is for channel 3 and channel 4 settings? Thanks... Troy

    7800 help

Well I got my 7800 up with full color on my 65" HD widescreen. I was trying to run the coax through my HD Directv receiver on analog channel 3. It won't do it. So I ran coax to my vcr which then runs composite to my Denon avr 5803 reciever which upconverts composite video to component output to my 65" tv. Ol glorious Atari on my 65" set. I even use the stretch modes on the tv to full the entire 16x9 screen with Atari so I do not get screen burn in. Thanks all for the help. I may have to start looking for more games! I still find Atari games more fun then todays Xbox/gamecube games. Maybe its because I grew up with them in the 80's. I wonder why the xbox and gamecube do not come outwith Atari classic games? Man what they could do with graphics on those machines to the classic Atari games. I would buy one if it had newer versions of these games. I guess its a trademark thing. I bet with the storage capacity of these new games one could put 3-4 entire Atari games on one xbox dvd...

    7800 help

Lemmi, THAT DID IT! All is working well. I took an old tee shirt very thin tee shirt, took an atari cartride and put he tee shirt over the cartridge end and used contact cleaner and sprayed the tee shirt, inserted the game cartridge while the damp tee shirt over it into the 7800. Whalla..the system works great! I also cleaned each game. On the color thing...It seems the Atari will not display bright vibrant colors on my 60 big screen tv? Anyone have any idea why? It displays very dull washed out color almost black and white. I took the 7800 and hooked it to my 27" tv and beautiful colors! Does not make sense to me anyone? anyone use an atari an a big screen? Thanks agin for the help

    7800 help

Thanks for the suggestion.. Can you direct me to what I may use to clean it? I can clean each game individually but how wold one access where the games attach to the unit? Meaning how would one clean the actual 7800 connections? Q-tip? Thanks again
