Thanks a lot guys for the replies. I am not sure I am going to keep it yet, so won't decide on upgrades, although it is good to know the alternatives. Anyhow, I need to troubleshoot the problem first. I am trying to find info on how to properly access the HD to disconnect it.

Thanks for the reply mate, When booting the computer stays on a white screen and never boots into the system. To be honest the behavior seemed like a possible virus to me,since I think that the OS in on a chip normally and it should boot with or without a hard drive, correct? I tried a working disk with a word processor and it loaded fine. Is there a way I can fix that?also any chance it would boot with rom if I unplug the hard drive? I guess it should be kind of easy to access it, or not? I know the hard drive didn't stand a chance to survive after all these years, but the whole behavior troubles me and I want to understand what happened. Hello guys, it's been a while since I have been on AA. I am mostly a console guy, so I know little about how St computers work, but recently a friend gave me a Stacy4 and a 520stfm (there is a reason why I mention the 520). I was lucky enough that the Stacy was in ace condition, fully working with a hard drive full of software. However today the hard drive stopped working, there is "bad" sound coming out of it, as if it is jammed. I wanted to describe how that happened, so maybe someone has any idea to help the situation. We were trying with a friend the drive of the 520,my friend downloaded a tosec from a torrent and used some pc software to write some disks. We tried a few games, but all of them, when loaded, were just making the 520 reboot constantly. We had the awful idea to test one diskette on the Stacy4, loaded the file, the computer rebooted and after that the hard disk started squeaking. What could have caused that? Is the hard drive busted or could the diskette somehow mess with the boot sector and make the HD not working? Is there an easy way to replace the HD and load again all the software? Sorry for the long post and Thanks in advance for any help

yeah, forgot to mention that. I didn't buy it from the creator. I bought it 3 or 4 years ago from a guy in this forum. In any case as I mentioned, I'm not expecting to get that money, I know what it's worth now because of the harmony. I just stated the price to explain that it's difficult for me to set a price when I had paid that amount.

Hello, its been a while since i've been in the forums. Doing some clearing on my collection. although It might not worth selling....I thought I could try to sell my krokodile cart. I know the harmony does it all and costs less, but some collector maybe interested...or maybe a programmer (i think it still has a couple of features that harmony doesn't). So it's complete, with cd and cable, (i'm not sure if it had a manual, but if it did I have it also) I honestly don't know what price to set, if my memory is correct, I had paid around 250 usd back then.... So I would prefer to get some offers for anyone interested....Just to have things clear I will prefer to keep it if the offered price is extremely low. In case you're interested please sent your quote, we will discuss it....and maybe we can come into a deal. For trades i'm only interested in rare vectrex items or a pcengine GT (portable). Hello, ok I bought 3 harmony carts when they first came out. 1 for me and 2 for a couple of friends. Months passed without getting the chance to test it (i was laze and too busy with work) and since I had the croc I didn't bother much. I was thinking of selling the croc, so I thought it was time to test my harmony. Tried to load fw, but the software can't find the cart. Even if i use the connect option, The cart is not found. I tried different cables and different ports on my pc. I'm using win7. I spoke with one of the friends who got the other 2 carts, and he said he had similar problems when he tried to use it. I don't know if the third one of us tested it. Anyone has any idea about what to do? Any chance there is a hardware problem with the carts?

I have for sale the IDE64 interface for Commodore 64 The IDE64 is brand new. Got it when they were available, but never actually used it. In the meantime I sold my C64, so now I'll never use it. It is the latest version 4.1 The interface lets you use CD card or IDE hard disk/cd-rom, you can load OS, and apps/games (after you patch them or something) and many more. you can get more info at http://www.ide64.org/ As fas as I remember, when it got available it was sold for about 100 euros + shipping (or about that).
