  1. I use an Atari 2600 jr modded to produce composite output. FWIW, I have seen problems with Centipede messing up my Framemeister. The TV image was going blank for several seconds every time the game transitions from the title screen to attract mode. I fiddled with some kind of scan-related setting in the Framemeister menus and now that problem doesn't happen; instead of blanking out for a few seconds, the screen just vertically shakes up and down a few pixels.
  2. When the computer ponders its move in 3D Tic Tac Toe, and the video blanks out, will it mess up the Framemeister?
  3. I don't think Centipede is actually changing resolution. The problem is related to syncing. Also, it doesn't cause the Framemeister to black out for a few seconds; instead, the TV blacks out for a much shorter time. >I think Castlevania:SOTN on PS1 is one example I thought the resolution change problem occurs for SOTN on Saturn, not on PS1. Thanks, but I don't really want to watch a 34 minute video to see whether or not it has an answer to my question. (I'm sure it doesn't.)
  4. Well, I didn't progress beyond this: set SYNC_MODE to OFF and, when Centipede transitions from the title screen to game play or vice versa, the image shifts vertically a little bit. During gameplay itself it's fine. Other Atari games I tried (Berserk / Pacman / Tutankham) seem fine.
  5. Hmm... It looks like various Atari games can cause sync problems with FrameMeister / OSSC: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/240599-atari-2600-rgb-mod/?p=3304472 https://www.videogameperfection.com/forums/topic/atari-2600rgb-ossc-sync-drop/
  6. My TV keeps blanking out for a second or so with this setup. Can you help please? I'm using these: -FrameMeister XRGB-3 Mini with latest firmware (2.03) -Firebrand's Framemeister profiles (recently obtained) -Atari 2600jr NTSC with composite mod -Centipede cartridge -Vizio 4K TV (D50u-D1) Every few seconds, Centipede changes between the title screen and an attract mode and then back again. Whenever it switches to attract mode, my TV blacks out for a second, twice, as it changes from 1080p to 1920x1080 then back to 1080p. Same thing happens if I try 720p (720p->1280x720->720p). If I change SYNC_MODE from AUTO to OFF, then the problem goes away. Except now, instead of blanking out, the image visibly shifts up and down on the screen several pixels! This didn't happen when I used a cheap $30 upscaler. I can't set SYNC_LEVEL; it's greyed out. Apparently you have to use RGB to change that?
  7. I ended up using a fine black sharpie to redraw some black areas I mistakenly removed. For the magenta areas I mistakenly removed, I dotted a small amount of fine red sharpie and used a q-tip to spread it out. I used a little bit of green sharpie and blue ballpoint ink pen on a q-tip, and used the q-tip to darken the red area. I also used isopropyl alcohol to remove ink from areas that were too dark. It actually looks pretty good, because the underlying, actiplaque-diseased look distracts from any problems I caused, and I was mostly fixing crude areas of solid color, not fine details. To a casual observer, it's not noticeable that I messed up and then repaired the art.
  8. Any tips on touching up cartridge art? I bought a River Raid cartridge from ebay, and these invariably look diseased with actiplaque. Somehow they look even worse than Kaboom or Keystone Kops do. I tried cleaning mine with isopropyl alcohol, but some of the inks, especially the black areas, came off. I tried applying black sharpie but it looked a bit too dark and shiny, so I went back to isopropyl and removed the black sharpie, plus some magenta ink I didn't want to remove. Maybe I should just print out a new one and glue it on? Please help!
  9. Hi, I fixed the problem. The color potentiometer just needed adjusting. I had to open the console up and adjust it from the front. For some reason I didn't notice, after playing dozens of other games, until I played Pacman I wish I could purchase a cart specifically for calibrating, but I just used Space Invaders and tried to match the green and orange scores shown here: https://atariage.com/2600/screenshots/s_SpaceInvaders_2.png Now pacman is dingy yellow on a deep blue background, instead of greenish on a purple background!
  10. I didn't fiddle with the color pot due to lack of the right tool. The pacman maze looks sky blue (like the lower screenshots here https://atariage.com/screenshot_page.php?SoftwareLabelID=1031)on my CRT instead of purple like on my LCD. I haven't noticed colors changing like this before. Very strange!
  11. Um, dumb question - where can I find the color adjustment pot on my Atari 2600 Jr? My Atari 2600 Jr looks like this https://www.ebay.com/itm/263213605889 I can't find any videos or images online to help. It seems a lot of the images that might help have disappeared long ago. Edit: I think I found it!?
  12. Yes, I was using a newish 4K LED TV which does not accept 240p, so I use a composite-to-HDMI 1080p/720p upscaler. It looks great for NES games and Atari 2600 Pitfall seems to have good colors (I think?). It sounds like you are suggesting I try the Pacman cart out on a CRT. I'll do that tonight. I guess that will eliminate some variables at least.
  13. Hi, Can you please help me? I picked up an Atari 2600 Pacman cart and the maze background is purple instead of blue! Pacman is a greenish yellow. I'm in the US and I think everything I have is NTSC. I haven dozens of other carts and haven't noticed strange colors before, e.g. Pitfall has greens and browns. I think this cart is also NTSC - there is no "P" on it. I also don't see any screen rolling problems. My system is an Atari 2600 Jr with some kind of composite mod: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/h2cAAOSwtTJZvqwa/s-l1600.jpg Is this some weird cart, or do I need to adjust the color wheel inside my Atari 2600? Thanks!
