  1. Started building my own computers. my first one was an AMD K6-II based
  2. yes, I would be interested. more than any of the other systems they are selling now.
  3. Let me see if I get this straight you want a Falcon but you think they are too expensive right now. A machine that has a market and demand. so you want to lessen that by buying a Milan that has almost no offers, maybe one or two extreme collectors that might be interested and selling the Milan for a high price (the thing you don’t like about the Falcon offers) seems convoluted to me but it’s just my opinion
  4. I don’t know where you are located but there are more Falcons for sale… especially in Europe if that’s the case this seller seems to be asking a lot by your description and keeping the lot together. So maybe another seller with just a Falcon would be better?
  5. What a weird coincidence, I was just checking the Milan webpage yesterday… as for the question, would it not be easier to buy just a Falcon?
  6. PARCP-USB is available and works great. almost plug and play (I also have netusbee and cosmosEX and the cable is my preferred method
  7. yeah I should have the shield stored to measure at least
  8. I’m sorry im Getting confused. please remember that we, as readers, don’t necessarily know by instinct to what you’re exactly referring when you say “this” or “the ones before”. when possible be specific to what you’re referencing, an old 360k disc that is probably 40yo or a known to be working 720k disc. also, if you really have a single sided drive, my memory says that the dual sided option to format shouldn’t even appear as an option…. 🤷‍♂️ should be greyed out at least in your photo of the drive I didn’t see a label with model number. my steps would be to take a KNOWN to work 720k disc, format it on PC internal drive (not USB) using the proper command, copy a text file to the disc and try you can also image an empty 360k floppy on steem and copy sysinfo
  9. If you have 720k discs just try and format them on the Atari if a known to be working on Amiga disc doesn’t format on the Atari to 360k you have a faulty drive, fixes to do on the power rails, you said you cleaned the drive already so if it doesn’t work… if you have an Amiga, you can use its drive on the Atari. They are both 720k drives. You might have to change DS1 to DS0, might be a jumper or a resistor I know this is valid for PC drives not sure for Amiga drives
  10. You have fundamental misconceptions about how floppy drives work. you've been told that the second hole has NOTHING to do with single or double sided and you keep fixated on that
  11. You should take pictures of your drive so we can say if it’s single sided (360k) present on early machines, double sided (720k) all machines up to MegaSTe with high density (1.44MB) drives. TT and Falcon only had 1.44 drives IIRC You seem to have 1.44MB high density floppies and covering the second hole is a “trick” to make the host system think it has a low density disc and format it and write to it, but the media is slightly different so your results will vary. if you have a very old drive (and they all are one way or another now), cleaning the mechanism is essential and sometimes even caps replacement I haver never tried nor remember hearing about trying to format a high density disc to 360k. if you have a single sided drive you really need either a dual sided drive or an alternative like USB
  12. I would be interested in an ST/TT/Falcon version
  13. @Albert @TrogdarRobusto While I don’t have much affinity with the 2600 era games, I do like that there is an Atari releasing hardware and software. not seeing myself buy the 2600+ but I was a backer for the new VCS and have two units. Paid a lot in taxes and customs (more than the consoles themselves) but I’m happy with the platform and hope they’ll continue to support it. Seems like they WANT to, time will tell if they CAN actually do it. Jaguar emulation (maybe even ST on Atari owned titles wink wink) on the VCS would be awesome get together with the community, work with the people still supporting the platforms you (Atari) created for 50 years and we’ll be there for you too.
