The new paddles produced for the 2600+ work just like the old paddles on a PAL 7800 console.

Yep. I have read this and switched my music to A3/A5. It helps. There is also some sounds that are nice but the pitch is very limited. I am still experimenting witch changing the instruments on the fly in the middle of the envelope. The Spanish Flea turned out nice. Perhaps I just have to find similar tunes.

Äfter hours trying to get anything decent out of TIA... tia_EasterBoogie.fur EasterBoogie.mp3 Player_NTSC.a26Player_PAL.a26 PS. this must be the WORST music chip I have worked with ever. And I disliked the Atari Lynx chip costing 22 cents to manufacture according to Epyx documents. Perhaps I make 2 versions of the game. One with Spanish Flea and one with Easter Boogie. Then it is up to the gamer of what to listen to.

The problem is really that TIA sucks with melodies (out of tune) and excels with percussions. Baby elephant walk is from 1961. So it has the same problem as Spanish flea. Besides... If you listen to this one channels. The bass + percussions is ok. But the melody solo is pretty terrible and out of tune. BW_c02.mp3

experimental ROM export for furnace tracker
karri replied to Dave C's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
Hi @Dave C, I noticed that for some reason the 2600 compiled version is considerably faster than the original in Furnace Tracker. tia_BoogieWoogie.fur tia_BoogieWoogie.mp3 The version compiled and run under Stella har weird speed. strangeSpeed.mp3 Could it be that if different channels have notes at different times the tune speeds up? -
Replacing the potentiometers is a bit overkill. During the years there was a lot of black gel that I assume had come from the carbon in the potentiometer. After washing all surfaces with IPA the unit was like new.

Sorry, my assumption was wrong. The eeprom works with the real cart while playing. The high score gets updated and you can reset the eeprom. So the cart is active while playing. My concern was becase Aga Cart was powered down as it could not provide a cart image fast enough.
-
I tried to run AdaCart on Pocket. When you choose to play a real cart there is power for a very short time. You can see the blue leds light up on the cart. But before AdaCart has time to load the game the Pocket cuts the power from the cart.

And the chord progression s there (sorry Taylor Swift). progression.mp3 Opinions? Would you rather like some Bossanova style piano melody on top of this or sound effects from the card movements? And if any Furnace Tracker enthusiasts are interested in how this was written you have the music here. Bossa.fur

Guess.mp3 This is actually pretty cool. In an experiment to combine bass and percussions the TIA appears to be pretty powerful. Just one channel used so far. I might even leave the background as this and use the other channel for sound effects. No copyright problems In order to add a little variation I could use some nice chord progression. Hmm. I wonder if Taylor Swift is going to sue me if I use the same chord progression she has in almost EVERY SONG of hers (A, E, F#m, D). I mean people like her chord progressions. So perhaps they would like it in the background of Easter as well?

It means that the dumper does not pass AUDIN to the cart. So it was not a Lynx after all...

cc7800, a C compiler dedicated to the Atari 7800
karri replied to bsteux's topic in Atari 7800 Programming
I would say that Furnace Tracker is the way to go. TIA has very nice percussion instruments in Furnace Tracker. The melody instruments are a bit out of tune. The Yamaha YM2151 is in tune. So it is a good match. You may even write the music in a way where you have a nice stand alone percussion track if the YM2151 chip is missing. All the sound effects could be taken from the sfx library for the TIA. I did also use this driver in my Easter (Klondike) game using the cc65 compiler. The Furnace Tracker is faster to work with than any other tracker I have tried. So I would love to re-use my tunes for the 7800 and the Lynx.
