In Topic: So... it's time to do something with this 520STm

Well, I've ordered TOS 1.04 in a 6 chip set.... The floppies are mostly pirate copies of games and they're all on Sony Brand Micro Floppydisk Single Sided MFD-1DD disks, so I'm sure it's the disks and not the drive,

I've also got an SF314 I bought for $3.... it said "bad" on the price tag. I couldn't get it to take a floppy on insertion. Tonight, I opened it up and found something that looked like it had gotten caked up so I cleaned old lube out with ronsonol and re-lubed it with white lithium grease. Then I put a disk in and it didn't like the disk when I tried to format it, so I had it "format" a cleaning disk instead.... It was then able to format a double sided floppy, but then it started reporting that the disk wasn't responding when I tried to view it on the desktop... but after retrying and rebooting a few times and making it try to access repeatedly it seems to be working every time. It's very noisy... I wonder if it will still work when I come back to it in the morning.

Oh... check out that yellow SF314. ooh... and the lovely crooked picture on the SC1224.

In Topic: Games that you just refuse to pay "market value" for

I'd say I'm not particularly inclined to pay "market value" for most games. I just don't see the point. I got so damn many games shopping at Thrift stores in the '00s that I just can't justify it. I don't need new games... so unless they show up in thrift stores I just don't care anymore. And I generally just do not find games at thrift stores like I used to anymore. So I don't buy much anymore.

-Spiderman ($300-$400- Yeah i know i'd regret this as soon as I paid for it.  For $35 maybe. I don't even like superhero games.

Wait, wait... what?

I was not aware of this. I mean... I remember when someone commented suggesting envy in the thrifts find post a while back, but well... I didn't realize it was that big of a deal.

It's as if time and space have collided and the past present and future are all coming together.

For me this poll is really an awkward cut off. The stuff that came out throughout the 1990s pretty much is my favorite stuff. I enjoyed my N64 as much as I did my Genesis, and while I still played games on the NES, it wasn't when it was 'cool'. I have Atari systems, but it was because it was a video game system and I liked video games and it was interesting to see where things have come from. I also dug my GameCube and for a time harbored somewhat of a loathing of people who wanted to talk nonstop about their Xbox and PS2 when I was in High School. In the last couple years or so I've ultimately found myself utterly disinterested in following or buying what's new in video games.

For me, I would say that 1985 to 2005 would be a good time frame.
