DONE! WTB: Apple TV (3rd Gen preferred)

Fri Mar 8, 2019 9:08 AM

I have 2 in my house now but I gave one to my son a few years ago which he still uses. Now that I have my basement back I would like one so I don't have to boot the XBox just to watch Hulu/Netflix.
Thanks in advance! :)
Shipping would be to 02893 so include that in your asking price please. :)

Arcade game made me snarf my drink

Tue Feb 26, 2019 12:37 PM

My Raspberry Pi screensaver just played the video clip for the arcade game Captain America and the Avengers... and it actually made me laugh.

So... Cap punches out some guys, walks to the right and proceeds to punch out a soda machine. The machine falls over and explodes. OK... I guess.

He picks up the bench and throws it... it explodes. I snorted my Gatorade.

He attacks a bunch of baddies that come on screen. He picks one up and throws the guy. HE EXPLODES!! I lost it...

When did Michael Bay design video games?!?!

Ever have that happen to you? :)

I need some help Punch-Out Arcade

Wed Feb 13, 2019 11:05 AM

OK so all I see on the web is that Kid Quick is easier than Glass Joe and should go down in 0:30-1:00. I do not get this. Maybe I'm an R-tard here but I have never had it easy with this guy.

Punch-Out Strategy wiki page:

Alternate method: This guy is actually the easiest person to beat in the game. Throw a right to his head and it will force him to retaliate with a hook. Dodge to the right and then follow with 3 left jabs to the face. Repeat this pattern and he goes down in about 30 seconds. 2 left jabs and a right to the face will force the hook retaliation, speeding up this process if Quick is not as full strength. This is touched on above, but with this method you are forcing him to throw a hook at you vs waiting for him to do it on his own.

Punch-Out FANDOM wiki page:

In the arcade version of Punch-Out!!, the trick to knocking out Kid Quick is to do the pattern "left, left, right, right" to his head. On the last right, he will throw a low body punch, which requires the player to dodge it and repeat.

These don't ever give me love. When I have beaten him it has been pure luck. I play in MAME, on my Switch and on actual hardware when I go to Funspot. This guy is always a pain in my ass. How does everyone beat him so easily?

PS3 and RetroArch

Mon Oct 1, 2018 12:26 PM

So I just put CFW on my PS3 since it has sat there almost an entire year without even being powered up.

I can only find scattered info about RetroArch on PS3. I do have 1.7.1 but it has very few cores installed and it appears the Download Core option isn't working or I'm doing ti wrong.

Anyone else here using it have some words of wisdom to offer or can point me to a good repository of information? Thanks! :)

Dreamcast questions

Sun Jun 17, 2018 9:33 AM

Just scored a July 1999 Dreamcast console. Works great but, of course, the CMOS battery is dead.

1) Is it hard to replace the CMOS battery? Do I even care?

2) Is the DreamShell loader any good? Anyone use one? Worth looking into at $15?

Thanks ahead of time! Off to play a rousing game of Worms: Armageddon!
