  1. Money has been sent! Thanks!!! Oldschool84
  2. Agreed. 1 for gaming, 1 for BBS/Other and 1 spare. Didn't take long to reach 30. I'm sure others will want 1 as well.
  3. Sent you a mail for 2, but I'll take 3 please to make your 30 goal. Oldschool84
  4. Oh yeah... I more thing. In Bobterm 1.22 use: Full duplex, ASCII, 9600 baud. Oldschool84
  5. Ok. I bought a UDS10 and everything works perfectly. To recap: - Atari 130xe - Atari 850 Interface - CX87 cable - UDS10 - Bobterm 1.22 IP Addr: 000.000.000.000 (DHCP/BOOTP/AutoIP) Gateway: 192.168.001.001 Netmask: 255.255.255.000 Baudrate: 9600 I/F Mode: 4C Flow: 00 Port: 10001 Connect Mode: D6 Disconn Mode: 00 Flush Mode: 00 TCP Keepalive: Disabled ARP Cache Timeout: 600s I go to term mode in Bobterm and type: ATDT065005243210/8888 WORKS! What have I learned.... Lantronix UDS1100 SUCKS!!! Stay away from it. CX87 cable is all you need. No hack required. It's plug and Play! Enjoy! Oldschool84
  6. Another update... Again, using Lantronix and Bobterm 1.22, I can sort of connect to the Heat Wave BBS via the dial menu. The intro page is all garbage, but then it clearly states if i'd like to logon, or new member, ect... Everything I type returns 2 of it. I type 'N' and it shows as 'NN' and then is ask really? and I say 'Y', but shows as 'YY' ...Then it clearly asks a bunch of questions about me, but it auto fills in with a bunch of JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ. Then is asks if im ANSI or VT100 ect... I never choose right because it asks if my screen just cleared. I say 'N' ...which shows as 'NN'... So it appears the CX87 cable is what you need when connecting the atari 850 with the Lantronix device (NO HACKS, NO ADAPTORS REQUIRED!), but the configuration of the Lantronix UDS1100 must not be correct? Terry (Oldschool84)
  7. I hooked up the Lantronix with the CX87 cable. Seems to somewhat work. When using BOBTERM 1.22 (Full duplex, ASCII, 9600 baud), I press the RETURN key to enter into TERM mode. However, I cannot type. I can hear the keystokes, but I don't see anything. If I change the duplex to Half, I see the keys I press, but in Full I don't. IF I go back to menu (Start key) and press F key to Originate, it returns to the TERM mode and I see *** Nodeset 2.0 ***. This is followes by a prompt 0>. According to the Lantronix manual, I am now in monitor mode. I can now type (see what I'm typing). I can execute various commands and works just fine. However, as soon as I exit monitor mode with a QU command, I can on longer type. How can I call a BBS using ATDT if I can't type??? Also, how do I enter into config/setup mode. I saw somewhere you could just press/hold-down 'X' and power on/off the Lantronix... that doesn't work. I can't config from my Atari. I can only config from a PC/windows machine. Thanks, Terry (Oldschool84)
  8. OK. I received my CX87 modem cable and SX212 Atari modem (IBM Compat) yesterday. Just hooked it up. I have Vonage, however I'm only operating at 1200 baud (ASCII and full duplex). Using bobterm1.22, I dial the Heat Wave BBS (16029554491) using dial menu and manual dial option. The modem comes to life! I hear dial tone, the dialing of the number and the typical modem handshake answer/reponse sounds. CONNECT! I see the following: CONNECT ^r Synchronet External POTS Support v1.25-Win32 Copyright 2009 Rob Swindell !ERROR conUh NO CARRIER Bummer!!! So now I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong??? I tried 3 times and all 3 times the same message. Aside from that, It appears things are somewhat working. So, I believe the Atari 850 is working fine. Next test would be to see if the CX87 modem cable works with the Lantronix USD1100. Terry (Oldschool84)
  9. Thanks B.C. Good Article! So now I'm thinking the CX87 will work. The Lantronix is a modem (Well that's what the Atari thinks), not a computer. Therefore it's a simple Atari 850 serial to modem connection.
  10. Ok. A little more on this... Changed Connect Mode to C6 and no change. Hearts still scrolling across the screen. No longer thinking it's the Lantronix configuration. When I unplug the power from the lantronix device, there is no change. Hearts still scrolling across the screen. It's only when I unplug the serial cable does the scrolling stop. Makes me still think cable is screwed up, but I checked the pins several times. I bought a CX87 cable and an old fashion 1200 baud modem. I'm going to try it the old way (dial up) and if that works, then I know the 850 is working ok and it has to be the cable. Still wondering if the CX87 cable can connect Atari 850 to Lantronix with no hack/mod? I'm thinking what others have said about tying DSR and CD togther and mapping with DTR. Also RTS with CTS and RXD with TXD... I'm thinking not... Thanks, Terry (Oldschool84)
  11. Also, just to rule out anything being wrong with my cable. Can I just buy an Atari CX87 cable and plug directly into the 850 and Lantronix. No mod/hack needed?
  12. Ok. I checked the wiring multiple times. Everything is wired correctly. Interesting how nothing has changed though. When using BOBTERM 1.22 in terminal window/mode, All I see is hearts scrolling across the screen. The hearts will stop if I change from ATARI to ASCII or I disconnect the serial cable from the Lantronix device. Even though the hearts stop scrolling when I switch to ASCII, I don't get a connection message and I cannot type. Makes me think either the Lantronix device is not setup correctly, faulty or the atari 850 is faultly? When attached to my pc, I can logon the device and view/set settings (both directly [PC Serial port] and remotely [Over LAN]). No red lights blinking on the device, only green. Attached are my settings. Anything wrong? Also, anyway to check that Atari 850 is functioning properly? Thanks, Terry (Oldschool84)
  13. Oh crap. I think I know what you are saying... Yes the db9 end of the Lantronix cable is female and we all know that atari 850 serial ports are female as well. Therefore I shouldn't do a straight through connection, I should use the below mapping instead, correct? Looks like I need to twist "data set ready" and "carrier detect" together as well, correct? DB9-1 DB-2 Receive Data 2 3 Transmit Data Transmit Data 3 2 Receive Data Data Terminal Ready 4 6+1 Data Set Ready + Carrier Detect System Ground 5 5 System Ground Data Set Ready + Carrier Detect 6+1 4 Data Terminal Ready Request to Send 7 8 Clear to Send Clear to Send 8 7 Request to Send Thanks, Terry (Oldschool84)
  14. So you are saying if I buy this cable, I don't have to hack it (cut it in half and match DTRs, DSRs, CTSs, RTSs, ....)? Thanks, Terry (Oldschool84)
