I'd drifted away from this hobby, but find myself firing up OpenEmu again. Problem is, i've been out of the loop, so I don't know stuff.
Some questions:
1. I've got OpenEmu 2.0.6.1 on my Macintosh. Assuming there's a newer version out there, would I be breaking compatibility with my existing arcade ROM library if I were to update to the latest version of OpenEmu?
2. And is there a reason to update to the latest version?
3. When I play M.A.M.E. games in OpenEmu, the screen flickers. I assume this has something to do with which display mode I choose in the preferences. What's the best one to select in order to stop the flicker? I'm playing on my iMac's built-in screen. This is a late 2013 iMac, and it's not a Retina display or anything ancy.
4. I'd love to also play some console games in OpenEmu, but I'm not sure if iy comes with the "cores" for each console built in or if I need to add those. Assuming it's the latter, how do I do that?
5. I know we can't link to or recommend sources for ROM libraries in this forum, but any hints that don't violate the TOS would be appreciated.
6. When it comes to ROMs of console games, can I play a given game if I just have the ROM for that game in particular, as opposed to a whole library? I ask because back when I was out there tracking down M.A.M.E. ROMs, it was weird, because in many cases, you couldn't play a specific game unless you also had the ROMs for its cousins, 'cause they were all somehow related.
Thank you for your help!
