  1. Hi all. Looking for some advice on how you execute something like a 5 second timer when you display a game over type screen to reset or go back to the main title screen. Really looking for code examples or pointers. Should I be counting cycles?
  2. Anyone got a bb snippet of how to grab and carry an object similar to say the sword in adventure and keep that object across multiple screens? I've sort of done it but it feels clunky, hoping to see better ways. Thanks!
  3. Thanks billy for posting the pictures. The two machines that stayed wrapped were for the panel discussion on what went into making the game never really intended to be on the game floor but the third was fully out there all weekend to be played. Both games were plugged in and working during the panel. Monday we just were missing the power pigtails to plug things in from the power company. Everything on these games is produced from the original Atari CAD files. The harnesses, cabinets, metal parts.. all custom made to those specs. An intense amount of work went into getting the game code adapted to a board that is actually obtainable and made by Atari. Bugs were fixed all over the place to make it the game it was meant to be. Call it whatever you want, it's a labor of love for the games for me as I have and will make zero money for my part in all of it and I personally own nothing of the originals but I have absolutely enjoyed the experience of making it happen and I'm thankful I was able to be involved. But, the fact remains, they are here and they will end up in arcades around the country and perhaps in other countries. It was a very painstaking, time consuming and expensive endeavor to build these to the exact Atari specifications to give the game a chance to live again Atari's way. I'm sorry it can't be done on what some people believe are the correct 'terms', but after all these years of speculation we actually did make it happen and we did it the way we wanted to by building real cabinets as close as humanly possible to how Atari wanted them built. You will be able to play it and decide if it's a great game or just bleh on your own! That's a cool thing! If you want to spin that as a negative thing because you can't have it for mame that's on you, whatever your opinion is is fine with me but it just wasn't an option at this time. Nobody knows how it will go in the future but for now, that is the wish and we're following it. For me, preservation is more than just a rom file, it's the entire game. Cabinet, art, monitor, all of it goes into what the game truly is and for me is the best way to preserve and share a game for the future. Some folks insist on being negative constantly and that's fine if not completely predictable. Either way, for those that want to just enjoy the game please do when you see one when the first ones get delivered in early 2022.
  4. Greedy little shits. Something's better than nothing.
  5. Modified refers to the changes needed to get the game to run on a more commonly available configuration of an original Atari board that is mostly compatible. Also, fixed a couple bugs in the game to make it more stable. Making from scratch new boards isn't an option, but tweaking the code to work on another variant of the same board is. Currently, trackball code simply doesn't exist in the codebase. It's not there, would have to be added which is in the plan. Beyond showing photos, having already built and brought one machine into the public twice and john's arcade having video of the board running it's clear some people are still going to be Debbie downers. That's cool, you stay down. I choose to stand up and help the game make it into public play. Preservation of a game doesn't always mean mame.
  6. NOW do you guys understand that MM is coming? Yes, it's the original code modified, yes it's original Atari hardware, yes it will have trackball support at some point in the future. Yes it will have the original art package. Is it as 'simple' as some here suggest, not at all.
  7. Sometimes it's even simpler.. sometimes people act so entitled to having the roms they don't own that it pisses people off that actually paid for them. Many times it's the very behavior of the community that prevents things being given to it. That's exactly what happened with a number of very rare roms. But putting that aside, here's something positive. IMG_1510 2.mov
  8. Of course it's not a big deal, at the end of the day it's just a video game. The fun is in the mystique of learning about rare games. Most people just want to have a copy of it for no particularly good reason other than to have it, but others actually genuinely enjoy the history of the era.
  9. You do live up to your nickname, i'll give you that. If anyone has any real questions about marble man i'd be happy to answer them. Just because the roms can't be out doesn't mean we can't chat about it.
  10. No, you all are guessing about some mysterious release that is false. I have confirmed it to be false, so no more rumormongering about it.
  11. In an effort to clear up any misinformation on the release of roms for this game I thought i'd chime in. As of right now, there are no plans to release the roms but there's a very good chance it will happen at some point in the future. More people will get a chance to play this game, maybe not in the form some want but it will live on, just don't count on open roms any time soon.
  12. Anyone with experience fixing ST's seen this before? I have gotten all my other atari computers running great but this one's different. Figured before I really dive in i'd ask this group if it's a common failure that there's a known fix for. Right now, it powers up and all the power tests where it should. There's some battery damage but not bad to where anything appears to be broken traces. Otherwise, it's clean but all I get is a white screen and clicking. Suggestions?
  13. Ok.. the news is out.. The legendary TRON himself, Bruce Boxleitner will be a special guest at this year's Free Play!
  14. This week we make the biggest guest announcement in the 8 year history of the show! It's tough to come up with something more insane than Keith Apicary and the AVGN in one place, but I think we did
