#3436565 SOLD Super 8 (keep open for discussion if mods want)

Posted by toptenmaterial on Tue Feb 9, 2016 4:43 PM

Anyone have luck getting any type of film developed with decent quality?  I bought a few roles of 35mm for my old Pentax ME Super a few years ago as an experiment.  Took a bunch of pics at an outdoor party, but when I had it developed, the color was awful.  My mistake was probably bringing it to Walgreens.  I think they use a Fuji Frontier system.  My digital prints are usually ok from them.

Yes. I go to Kerry's Warwick Photo in Warwick RI and she has always been exceptional. It's totally independent. I do a lot of 35mm processing done there. Phone number is (401) 732-0208, I'm sure that you could mail in a roll.

#3347213 Any modern games that play like the classics? (atari 2600 games)

Feeding Frenzy for sure. It's pretty much a remake of Shark! Shark! for the INTV. I have it on the Xbox Live Arcade disc which you can pick up for a couple of buck. The disc also has Pac-Man Championship Edition which is a blast too.

The technical aspect of this thread has gotten really interesting as of late. I haven't read all of the recent entries, so please forgive me if the following question has been answered. I see some talk about the XEGS; does the 8-bit line have any commonalities with the 7800? This is a very broad question from a guy who knows little about tech so take it in stride. Thanks.

Edit: Curt, though I'm not an XM costumer it's nice to see you back in the Atari game! 😃

I got the sarcasm just fine. There's a difference between whether it's being viewed as appropriate or not, especially in light of some of the vitriol that was going on in this thread. And I'm not the only one who was looking at it as such.

Can we move on please?

I wouldn't worry about it, I interpreted another way myself, which was basically "this one is tossed...".  Not everybody is into sarcasm, in fact most people have a hard time getting their grips on it.  Marty is one of them, IMHO.
On that note, did you watch New Jack City?  Or did you just pull that reference out of google's ass?

I know New Jack City verbatim! And yeah, that was basically the joke. I don't know Curt much less want to murder him. But it is an emotional thread so that probably wasn't the place for it.

#3170365 Jaguar CD Worth?

Posted by toptenmaterial on Wed Feb 4, 2015 11:56 AM

The thing about the Jag CD is that it is hard to find a working one in the wild. If you decide to buy, be sure to demo it first and try to get some kind of warrantee.

#3169240 Bad Trader Alert

Looks like you got a random bad apple. Don't let it dissuade you from conducting business here. You could PM Albert, our admin, but he may decline to intervene as I would imagine that he doesn't wish to get sucked into a lot of different disputes. As far as I know AA does ban notorious scammers so we'll see. Perhaps you could contact whoever the moderator is for Marketplace forums, I forget who it is at the moment.

#3134801 Next Gen consoles, which one's the best?

Posted by toptenmaterial on Tue Dec 16, 2014 7:38 PM

Wii U Oh, Ok. Comeon, outside of the initial hype, did anybody like the wii? I liked a total of two games on there, both mario titles, the sports titles were an OK diversion until real games came out, but me and my friends lost interest in those too. The only real saving grace was BC with the cube, but hey, I already have a cube, and the ONE most used feature on there, isn't supported on the wii (gameboy player) The Wii U is just an extension of that I'd like to get Mario and Luigi games, but I cna't help but think that I'd get the system, play it a very short time, be underwelmed by the touch pad thing, annoyed by most of the games yet again not supporting a perfectly good real controller, and the thing just sitting in the closet no more than two months in of owning one (just like the wii) It's to bad, Nintendo has the games I like, but the console actively prevents good third party games from being ported to it. Maybe there's some saving grace, but honestly, I didn't like the gamecube, felt burned by the wii, and honestly, this will just probably be more of the same.

I couldn't disagree with you more concerning the Wii. For me it was the defining console of that generation with awesome games like Galaxy 1 & 2, Epic Yarn, DK and NSMW. I have never enjoyed a console more. And it's a killer emu machine too.

#3120350 Does anyone know about GBA clones?

For some GBA games (like the Classic NES Castlevania) I much prefer the button layout of the SP to the DS.

#3119296 If you were Nintendo, what would you do?

Locking downloads to one specific system at a time is killing them. I don't know why they don't abandon this archaic policy.

#3118093 If Atari made a new console, what would it be called?

Posted by toptenmaterial on Fri Nov 21, 2014 1:19 AM

A "new" Atari could be introduced in the form of a $99 tablet. It would be manufactured solely by convict labor and marketed as the Slick Willy.

Edit: I forgot to mention that it will be advertised primarily in the Old Farmer's Almanac, Reader's Digest and on Howard.

Have a unified online user ID system. For crying out loud, it's almost 2006 already! :D
