Hoping someone can help me figure this out. I am trying to use bobterm with the xep80. I am connecting via APE. I have no trouble while connecting without the xep80. As soon as I put the xep driver on the atr as module1.btm, bobterm starts dropping characters. I do see text on both the xep and atari screen, but tons of characters are dropped. I have tried all baud rates from 300 to 9600, although I don't think baud should be an issue because I get dropped characters even when not connected. For instance, I type '?', and the APE help menu has lots of dropped characters. I have tried bobterm versions 1.20, 1.21, and 1.22- all with the same result. I couldn't get 1.23 to load at all. I have tried using the updated module1 from Mathy's site that supports 9600 baud with each version of bobterm.

What am I missing?

I haven't tried downgrading or updating APE. I haven't tried not using APE and connecting via 850 and 830 modem. Is there anything else I can try? Is there an alternative to bobterm that works with the xep?

Have you tried using ICE-T 2.0.8.6 80 column ANSI/ASCII terminal for the Atari 8-bit?  You can download a copy here in these forums.  It was posted a while back.  I use it all the time without the XEP80.

YYZ I am getting garbage on the screen with 80col. width using AT-telnet.

Any idea why? I am simulating an Atari.. it sees me as one.. I use ? to go to main menu.. it is messed up.

James

p.s cant connect to Bates Motel yet either.

YYZ BBS is running on Oasis Jr. BBS software (Public Domain 1988).  Currently I'm running these modes:

40 column callers in ASCII or ATASCII

80 column callers in ANSI

Thanks,

Does YYZ support 80-col ATASCII?

No, it does not support 80 col. ATASCII at this time.

Update:

So, I edited the text files and a new error cropped up:  136 (EOF).  This is annoying.  ALL of the ATASCII files work fine as they were edited on my daily driver with TLW.  However, everything I edited under Windoze&Mac, gives that error.  ANy ideas on what text editor to use for ANSI/ASCII files on the 8-bit?  I tried just using files from The Last Word without any inverse, but that does not work either.  Any suggestions wouldbe appreciated.

The ATASCII side owrks fine EXCEPT there is noise coming over on the key input.  I do not see it on the BBS screen, but I certainly see it on the caller side.  Do you think the speed is too high? Should I drop it down to 9600?

Grrr.

Speed can be an issue.  I run 8-Bit Guild BBS (BBS Express) at 2400 bps in ATASCII/ASCII and I run YYZ BBS (Oasis Jr BBS Systems) at 9600 ATASCII/ASCII/ANSI.  Slow that baby down a bit where it was designed back in the day!
