  1. Too bad you didn't have the manual for Diskey - it told you how to create bad sectors. You slowed the RPM of the drive down to about 230 (288 rpm was the norm, Diskey had a drive speed utility in it) - then wrote a test sector, the trick was to have the drive slow enough that it would write the bad sector successfully but couldn't read it back. 220 was too slow but sometimes 225 worked it depended on the 810 drive. Diskey was a great program for hackers, when code started to get obfuscated you could apply a mask to the information on the sectors and read the text/opcodes you wanted to change directly vs. hand translation.
  2. Canyon Climber by Datasoft did that on the tape version. We were able to copy it with 2 boom boxes as long as we didn't talk during the copy. I couldn't believe (today) that it worked, but it did. We were poor kids and didn't have $$$ to buy the right cables to copy it.
  3. Wait.... you can actually FINISH this game? I never knew that and used to play it extensively way back when. Hated that you would drop what you were carrying when the black knight came out..... never got much farther than into the castle and just got stuck. Will have to dust this off! -rcb
  4. Maniac Miner was written in forth. Not a memorable game IMO other than that tidbid. -rcb
  5. Awesome!! Great game especially if you can get the music done right too.
  6. Great game you should get a copy and check it out. You have to flip pieces on the board to connect a path to the power while avoiding enemies. It gets really hard on the later levels. Great strategy/action game.
  7. That's what "the pill" is most useful for. Turn it on, enter omnimon, screen ram starts at $7c00 instead of $bc00. Presto, $8000-$bfff preserved. -rbay
