  1. Very good question! After ST (also used as a Mac with Aladin) STe with 4MB Atari Falcon030 with lots of add-ons (played Doom at friends PCs) ~1999. Macintosh PowerBook (to expensive to expands and Mac OS 7 was not so great, although MagiCMac was!) ~2000. PC K6-2 ... Athlons (skipped Windows 9x trash and go straight to Windows 2000) ~2006. 24" x86 iMac and since then only Macs (MacOS X is great)... and Atari till today
  2. Yes, HDMI model. Well my goal is to add speaker inside Atari Flashback 8 case so it would be much easier if there is a analogue audio signal on board than to take it from e.g. HDMI2VGA adapter.
  3. Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to add a RCA sound output on Atari Flashback 8? Where is analogue sound trace on PCB? Thanks!
  4. Hi, does anybody else manage to get video output? I bought kit from aliexpress and connect it like ndary show but when I turn on Rambo 2600 I get only black screen. If I desolder video line it start to work but only on RF. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004256692287.html
  5. Please, can you tell us what software/accessories make biggest impression on you when you switch to PC (I ask because many ST users was not aware of e.g. Signum).
  6. PC manage to survive by paddling compatibility of software at expend of hardware progress / main progress in x86 world at first place have x86 compatibility in mind. One can read Darek Mihocha, author of Gemulator, superb analysis of Pentium 4 CPU as reference. Reading about Apple M1, for me, bring feeling and spirit of Atari ST and Amiga time - INNOVATIONS and "next step" in computing ! Do not forget that Amiga, Atari, Mac gave birth of most successful Windows software: all major software for DTP, Graphics, Text, SpreadSheet, 3D was born on alternative (non Wintel) platforms and later ported to Wintel. When people say: "Windows XP is OS done right" - first question that cross my mind: did you use Windows 2000? Can you tell what Windows XP had more then Windows 2000? (Except "themes" and "Windows media player"?) PC looks good ONLY because you do not have any alternative to compare with. Thanks to Apple we have now M1 and we can see how crap Intel CPUs are (finally!). And we all know that all alternative platforms/companies/standard are destroyed by abusing monopoly position (Microsoft is convicted guilty but they were never punished (like e.g. AT&T some decades before - by splitting company) - o no! Microsoft was REWARDED by becoming defacto standard in governmental institutions (punishment was to provide government with Windows and Office licences)! It is like a Monty Python sketch...). Like I said: all software that we use today WAS PORTED from alternative platforms to PC as soon as PC (Wintel) become good enough to support it (although many keep using e.g. ST for MIDI because Windows/PC was piece of crap in years to come when something like latency is very important!)
  7. Next problem would be "neon gas" from Russia/Ukraine... or: lack of it. At the end, they will really manage to bring civilisation to "food stamp" level.
  8. Motorola did not release 16MHz version of 68000 until 1989. (Or it was 1990....?)
  9. How Mac was “best for DTP”? Which year? What hardware? What softwate? I did not use Mac for DTP but Calamus on ST was better than PageMaker. EDIT: ignore my post! zzip and oki already answered in consequent posts... and I do agree (except for GDOS: best ST apps did not use GDOS at all (Signum, Calamus..))
  10. First, I click on “like” button on your message and only after that I check if Protext is listed in www.atariuptodate.de in “Word Processor” section. And it is not! BRITISH Program ProText is listed and not German Protext. As I mentioned before: British (UK) ProText have nothing in common with German Protext!!! German: http://milan.kovac.cc/atari/software/?folder=/TEXT#PROTEXT.FTP Bristish: http://www.atariuptodate.de/en/267/protext ...lets take a look at your claim about STeve on www.atariuptodate.de...
  11. ^ I also have a plan to make 'then vs now' - it is preposterous how we did not advance an inch in last 30 years! Word is Word. Excel is Excel. There is no FUNFAMENTAL difference in using computer now, and 30 years ago. e.g. how many of you hear of Quantrix program? It is leapfrog on Excel but nobody use it (even before it become super expensive). Quantrix is an example of FUNDAMENTAL different using spreadsheets to "Excel". I am big fan of "no application" computer world of Xerox Smalltalk - there is no applications but rather DATA that can be manipulated by different tools. Today we are lightyears far from this concept; instead we have our data locked inside Applications There was some efforts in 90s to UNLOCK data from Application by e.g. OpenDoc and... I forgot how Microsoft called similar initiative. And I also planed to make more videos where I would compare doing similar job on two different platform, like this one:
  12. No pressure I just saying that these two demos are good for testing monitor compatibility with Falcon.
  13. No problem. I am glad to help For me it was easy guess. Original author of question very nicely describe STeve But real pity is that really small number of Atari users used (or hear) for this program Atari ST was truly Power without the price since it gave opportunity to make such advanced programs like STeve, Signum, Calamus, Protext, Cubase, Logic, 3D Max...
