SOLD --- Coleco ADAM Computer Package

Sat May 11, 2013 10:34 AM

I have up for sale a very large ADAM Computer package that I have meticulously assembled with the idea of offering it up for sale to someone here on AtariAge that has been looking to buy one of these systems, but did not want to go thru all the time, hassle and expense of finding "working" components of the system.... let alone test and clean everything and then acquire software to use with it.

Each item listed out below has been tested, disassembled, cleaned, re-assembled and tested again very thoroughly over the course of the last three weeks to the best of my abilities and using all the available ColecoVision and ADAM test utility cartridges and software that I have available to me. As far as the system and all the extras stand, they are in 100% working condition and the physically are in very good condition except for a couple noted items at the bottom of the package list.

Local pickup is very welcome if you are within a reasonable distance. Shipping will be via the best option that I can find, not necessarily the cheapest with USPS being the frontrunner currently. The ADAM Computer box will be placed inside of another larger box to protect it from any further harm that will be 40"x20"x10" in size and weight roughly 40pds. The rest of the items will be shipped in a second box that I haven't packaged up yet, but will ASAP and then add the information here.

I will consider any and all Foreign purchasers, but will be brutally honest in saying that a possible U.S. purchaser is favored.

Here is the complete list of everything I have amassed along with a large number of pictures:

Who is looking to acquire an ADAM Computer package?

Fri Apr 26, 2013 6:34 PM

After taking the last year and a half off from assembling some very nice ADAM Computer packages for people that are looking to add one to their collection, I have dove head first once again into this endeavor with a little push from a new member here on AtariAge (videofx) that was looking for a system. Pictures of the system and package that I sold videofx are provided below and in the following post I have further pictures of my current supply of ADAM systems and extra that I have been tediously sorting through, testing, disassembling, repairing where needed (fixed another Disk Drive!!!), cleaning, testing again, etc. etc.

So with that being said, I would like to ask anyone that is interested in acquiring a system to send me a PM and I will place you on a waiting list... first come, first served. When a system is ready, I will contact the first person on the list and then go from there. The next system that I have ready will feature a lot of extras and each additional system will include less and less as far as extras until I have sold off everything... at which time I will probably take another long break from doing this as the time involved can become overbearing... for the wife and kids that is.

BTW, each system will contain a couple very special items that will provide you with everything that you could possibly need to get the most out of the ADAM and they are not included in the pictures below.

My latest pickup: CIB Cosmic Crisis by Bit Corp - Authentic!?!

Sat Mar 9, 2013 5:41 PM

I just received all the way from Germany (thanks Marc for the help  ) via eBay what I believe to be an authentic/real Bit Corp. CIB of Cosmic Crisis.

The box is made with a thicker/heavier card stock than any of the reproductions that I have seen to date, includes a built-in cart and manual holder, has some sticker removal damage, color fading like you would expect from something this old and has a musty/old smell to it like it's been stored in a basement for over 25 years.

The manual, likewise, shows all the tell tale signs of being over 25 years old.

The one item that I am not 100% sure on is the cart shell and a definitive answer may never be forthcoming after all these years. I was always under the impression that Bit Corp. used the same cart shell for their games as the ones used by Sierra On-Line, Spinnaker, etc., but the one I have is the TeleGames UK style cart shell. So now this opens up the question as to whether Bit Corp. was the original manufacturer of this cart shell and sold their remaining stock of shells and the mold to TeleGames UK.

The Meteoric Shower cart that ColecoDan owns is contained in the Sierra On-Line/Spinnaker cart shell, so maybe Bit Corp. started out releasing their games using shells purchased from these other game developers and than later had their own cart mold made to save money.

Lots of what-ifs with these Bit Corp. games, but at the price I was lucky enough to obtain this CIB at, I'm very happy!

Dragon's Lair screen mock-up difference

Thu Feb 28, 2013 10:29 PM

Seeing that the ADAM version of Dragon's Lair has become a hot topic ever since Mystery Man and Team PixelBoy converted/released a ColecoVision compatible version for use with the soon to be released Super Game Module (or ADAM Computer), I figured that I would share a screen mockup that I recently came across in the Coleco Electronics 1984 Press Kit.

If you know the ADAM version well enough, you will immediately recognize that this picture of the Ropes/Platforms/Fire level is different from the completed and released ADAM Super Game... and of course the newly released CV cartridge game. I have included a screenshot of the released version so that you can see firsthand the differences.

As a bonus, you will also see in the picture a description of the Super Game version of Star Trek along with a title screen mock-up. Too bad this one never was completed or a prototype found.

How many differences can you find in these "like" Ads?

Tue Jan 15, 2013 10:17 PM

Compare the two different, but similar, "Coleco Delivers" ads below to see how many differences you can find. "Coleco Delivers" Ad #01 is supplied in two differenent formats (a complete version with the text at the bottom cut off and a split version that includes the text at the bottom) and "Coleco Delivers" Ad #02 is supplied in a complete form only.

Remember to use both versions of Ad #01 to compare to Ad #02 and to tally up EVERY difference individually.
