  1. I still have at least 4 large tower cases(P3 based systems), it's the 360kb 5.25" FDD mechanisms in 486 machines that I regret recycling(~15 years ago) the most.
  2. Some libraries have 3D printers that can be used by card holders, my local library has a Prusa i3 MK3S+ 3D Printer. https://www.orl.bc.ca/using-the-library/our-services/orl-makerspaces/3d-printer
  3. Kier Fraser is also the developer behind the Greaseweazle Flux Controller.
  4. Just look at the signature line in tf_hh posts, there are 2 of them just a few posts up in this thread.
  5. AFAIK the only components on the 400/800 that use -5VDC are the 4116 DRAM and the power LED, if the 4116 are eliminated by a RAM upgrade and the power LED rewired to use +5VDC this should eliminate the need for -5VDC. I also believe that +12VDC is only used by the 4116 DRAM, the color adjustment potentiometer, and SIO pin 12.
  6. There's often a serial# label on the RF shield under the cartridge door, it doesn't have a date stamp but this is often also embossed at the rear of the bottom case as shown in the post immediately before yours.
  7. SpartaDOS X also uses PC letter assignments for drives, I believe "D:" = "D4:"
  8. SideB may also contain a duplicate of sideA, the v1.5 disk I have does.
  9. An SIO2PC/USB device, especially when made from an FT232 based breakout board, is an inexpensive way to run floppy based software as long as there is a PC nearby to connect to.
  10. Pay the extra fee to require the recipients signature, and include it in the shipping cost. Porch pirates aren't an issue at my house since my driveway is about 200' long(a pain when the snow needs to be cleared in spite of having a snow-blower), my house is behind the nearest neighbors back fence. I don't even get Trick or Treaters at halloween. https://mangoful.com/usps-signatures-answers/#:~:text=A signature is not always required upon delivery, can see when the package has been delivered. Couriers should have this option as well.
  11. When you do that you risk damaging a marginal disk even further, flux dumps using a GREASEWEAZLE/KRYOFLUX/SUPER COPY PRO are the recommended method. With a8rawconv I have adjusted the -p value when decoding an SCP file and eliminated many errors, 100+ once eliminating all errors, from the decoded ATR/ATX image without re-dumping the floppy.
  12. It most certainly does, in 1992 I visited Bob in Buffalo due to BB instability issues, while enroute to visiting a friend in PEI. Bob was able to swap out some capacitors which resolved the issue, in later years I realized this was probably due to a Phi2 timing problem with the 800XL I normally used.
