#3245267 D.K. VCS

I would like to reserve a copy of the cartridge as well. This is a great port for the 2600 that would give Colecovision's version a run for the money. Finally, a version that would put the Coleco Donkey Kong port for the 2600 to shame. Nice job, "Where were you 30 years ago?"

I agree.........

I still want to see a double ender cart (as suggested in comment #575) with this title on one end (Joe's DK VCS) and the other end with DK Arcade 2600 (iesposta)!!!

#3228139 Piņata (2600)

Posted by Arenafoot on Wed Apr 29, 2015 11:44 AM

To inform everyone, Pinata has been taken out of production. Unfortunately, professional concerns over some of Pinata's content has compelled me to ask Al to discontinue sales.

I've uploaded the latest version of the ROMs as well as a PDF of the manual to this topic's first post. I kept the 1.0.5 ROMs on the first post as well, in case people prefer playing the pre-cart versions of the games (there were some significant modifications to some of the games).

Hopefully everyone who wanted a cartridge got one already. Thank you to everyone for your support. :)

bummer if i would have know beforehand i would have ordered my copy :-(

I started working on an instruction manual.  It isn't finished yet, but it gives you a basic idea of what all the items do.

Cool...I love the first 4 steps!!!!!

Question, since you designed the game............ if I'm at full health and I come accross the "Medical Emergency Kit" should I pick it up? or is it better to leave in the room for later use????

Hi Arenafoot - thanks for the feedback!  The grey blocks are actually traps, and they have always been there, though not always visible.  I swapped the difficulty switch settings so that Right Difficulty A is for invisible traps, and Right Difficulty B is for visible traps.  When the traps are invisible, you can still reveal them by throwing your weapon ahead of you as you walk - the ball will reveal a black outline on the floor when it passes over a trap.

Also, the other small icons (treasures, food, etc.) are still there - they appear randomly in rooms, though not as frequently as traps, which is probably why you didn't see them.  I'll look into balancing the enemy/trap frequency in a future update.

Tonight's update has the sound added - finally!  It's starting to seem like a real game to me now.  I'm still wanting to add a short tune for the title and win screens, but most other events have a sound effect in version 8.  I have about 1.5 kb left, so let me know if you have suggestions for other things that could be added.

So, are all of the traps bad??? I walk over each one and it hurts my man 1 level.......i shoot the grey square and it doesn't do anything to it???

Seems like the small icons are rarer now than in V6........I did find the Atari Fuji symbol though which I had not seen before. I also was able to shoot the multi-colored ball and it turned into the cat but i didn't have the right number of items and the cat killed me.

I noticed that if I shoot in one room and quickly go out the exit into the next room - the shot carries over to that room too. Is this a glitch?

I like the sound too! Is there any way of having an visual of inventory items that have been picked up? and items still needed?

I added a new enemy type - this one is a big "alien" that chases when you are not shooting.  If you do shoot, the alien will attempt to dodge and return fire.  I think the new enemy ramps up the difficulty significantly.  I find that "run the hell away" is a valid strategy when health is low and I am confronted with a difficult enemy.

Also added: animated explosions that occur when an enemy is destroyed.  Don't touch the fireball!

My question is this: is the game too hard now?  Are you still able to win?  Does it provide enough challenge?

Next up: SOUND!

i just played v6 and v7..........v6 is good - reminds me of AD&D for the INTV - v7 is better with the big alien but too many of them and for some reason there's several grey blocks in different rooms, and some of them kill you -  i prefer the small icons you had in v6

#3197450 Any word on the 2600 Star Castle release?

Posted by Arenafoot on Sat Mar 14, 2015 12:00 AM

That would be awesome, but I generally haven't had good luck selling posters, so probably not. However, we are looking at including something else. :)

It would be neat to do the same thing as Activision did "back in the day" and offer a patch for achieving a certain score on a game. Of course this would be limited to only the people who actually bought the cart! (Al- Just add a few bucks to the original cost to cover the patch and postage beforehand)

Hey Arenafoot. If the left difficulty is set to A, the joystick up which fires both flippers is disabled. If set to B, joystick left = left flipper, joystick right = right flipper and joystick up fires both flippers. B is the easier choice. Think that's what you are seeing?

That was the trick......before I'd get 20k now I just got over 60k!!!

#3146488 Breaking news: Intellivision flashback coming to retail

Posted by Arenafoot on Mon Jan 5, 2015 12:46 AM

You got one for 10.50? Was it in a clearence bin? The Walgreens by me has it for 51 bucks WAY TO MUCH! How did yiu get yours so cheap?

It was part of the Christmas clearance at Walgreen's which was 70% off all Christmas stuff. There were 3 more Intelli's and 3 Sega's left. Mine rang up for $24.99 at the register and there was a yellow sticker on the box marked $34.99 (original price) and when I asked the cashier about the 70% off, he asked a manager if it was part of the Christmas clearance and she said yes, so he overrode the price to $10.50.

I found out (New Years Eve) from someone in a FB group about it at their local Walgreen's where he got one for $7.00 - which was 80% off the original price. I might check back at the end of the week to see if they have some left and if the discount is higher.

Just a note that the INTV Flashback is on sale at Walgreens this week.  I bought one today for $24.99.  I've heard it's less in other regions.  Your mileage may vary, but it's worth a look if you have a Walgreens nearby.

I bought mine yesterday at Walgreen's for 70% off of the original price of $34.99 making it $10.50 and then came home and ordered the missing overlay pack for $14.99......more than the cost of the console itself!!!
