#3596608 Talking with CPUWIZ about 256k carts. What can we do in bB?

Posted by Arenafoot on Sat Sep 17, 2016 10:46 PM

Also, a batari BASIC multi cart featuring bB games.

I like this idea - as long as it is cheaper than a Harmony Cart. It wouldn't make any sense to buy one if it was more than the cost of a Harmony cart.

#3593106 Atari Flashback Portable!

Posted by Arenafoot on Mon Sep 12, 2016 3:56 PM

As far as availability around here (Mississippi, US) I have only ever seen the Sega Handhelds at Dollar General... but this is what I recall.

1.  Dollar General:  Atari Flashback, Sega Genesis Classic Console, Genesis Handheld, (Coleco and Intellivision last year). (very low numbers, less than a dozen each per store of each type.)

2.  Walgreens: Atari Flashback only.

3.  Family Dollar: Atari Flashback and Sega Genesis Classic Console.

4.  Kroger (grocery store): Atari Flashback and Sega Genesis Classic Console, (Coleco and Intellivision last year).

5.  WalMart:  Atari Flashback only that I saw, but I seldom go there, so this isn't as reliable as above listed.

This is what I have seen since the release of the first Sega Genesis Classic Console.  I have often been the source of acquisition for these games for others I work with, so in some cases I go to as many as a dozen of any one of these stores in a collecting road trip to pick them up... the point being that the above list has been very consistent for years.

I still have a few of most to give as presents and occasionally sell/trade to someone who learns about them and wants older models and can't find them.

Bed, Bath and Beyond is the best place to get them when they first come out because they offer 20% off one item coupons - all the time. I usually have 2 or 3 at any given time that come in the mail, plus they offer them online too.

#3543531 Atari Fangames

Posted by Arenafoot on Fri Jul 1, 2016 8:08 PM

This is another game that's sorta in this series. It was meant to (originally) be like an Atari 7800 port (as I wanted to do another take on imitating the 7800) of the arcade game Eyes, though in 2 of the modes the speed gets quite fast in the later levels and I'm not sure if the 7800 could handle such speed.

Please, let me know what you think of these games on this thread.

I love the arcade game Eyes. Not many people know or heard of it.

#3537126 The Video Game Homebrew Crash of 2016

Posted by Arenafoot on Tue Jun 21, 2016 11:23 PM

I think the last home brews I bought that came out New were Dungeon and the Evil Magician Returns. I fell off for a long time due to new job etc. I would pop in from time to time and did get discouraged when I'd find a limited release thread for a game that didn't seem great. I do wish there was a more dedicated thread to intended tok be released. Also I am probably the only person that does not own a Harmony cart.

That being said.....
What have been some of the best I've missed in past two years? 2600 or 7800?

Also what are some promising developments for me to keep an eye on?

I'm the other person without a Harmony cart too.

Best 2600 homebrews last few years...IMO:

Stay Frosty 2: Stay Frostier (I own)

Lady Bug LE (I own)

Wall Jump Ninja

Star Castle Arcade

Pinata (not available anymore)

#3514693 The Video Game Homebrew Crash of 2016

Posted by Arenafoot on Fri May 20, 2016 11:13 PM

So we're most of the way through May now and the only 2600 homebrew release I'm aware of so far is the Cowlitz Game Expo re-release of Ature.

Does that mean the crash actually happened?

Bullcrap. Lots of games for 2600/7800 and other consoles still in active development. Some will see release this year or the next. Several 7800 titles are queued up waiting for Hokeys.

No crash.....but it has been a slow beginning of the year for Atari VCS homebrews........... http://forums.atari....ws-as-of-41716/

Only 5 released (published) so far for 2016.
