  3. Thanks for your question. I'm sorry I haven't replied sooner (I didn't get a notification!) I have been the only owner for this console. It had been working flawlessly until around 2002, at which point the CD audio began to cut out. I was able to successfully replace the two capacitors responsible and return it full operation. Around three years ago, the video signal cut out (though there was still audio and CDs still spun). Since I didn't know what specific capacitors were responsible, I did remove all the remaining capacitors, but was unable to effect a repair due to lack of skills/equipment (see the broken trace for evidence of that sad story). There has never been any liquid spilled on this machine at any time. Under normal light conditions, the spinner really doesn't look as discolored as it seems to be in that photo, and I never had any issues with the CD drive during the time the machine was working and being played.

  6. Oh, you better believe that Namco has that trademark stuff on lockdown, and that is a big part of their suit. ATGames may well have bought the royalty rights and the ROM code, but they certainly don't own the name 'PacMan' or the character representations (think of it this way -if I develop my own Cola formula, I can't sell it in stores as 'Ms. Coca Cola'). We're now in a situation where BandaiNamco can't do anything with Ms Pac Man without a royalty agreement with ATGames, and ATGames can't do anything with Ms Pac Man without a trademark agreement with BandaiNamco (and what are the chances of that at this point?). In effect, Ms Pac Man is now a commercially dead property. To quote DJ Khalid: congratulations, ATGames, you played yourself.
  7. This kinda came out of nowhere! Did we know this was going to be a thing? Was tempted to get it until I remembered I have no room on the shelf.

  12. In Norwalk, CT. I'm heading there tomorrow, so I'll remember to take some pics.
  13. If I didn't already have the MyArcade Galaga unit, I definitely would have gotten the Basic Fun unit I saw at WalMart today. I could see right away that it wasn't the NES rom, but I also felt like the brief bit of gameplay I saw from the demo that it might be running a bit slower than I'm used to seeing from the arcade. I feel pretty confident in saying that it is definitely a better version of Galaga than was on the Tiny Arcade, but I'd have to get some proper hands on time before I can say much more than that. It looks really nice though. It also looks like they tweaked the box art designs for these new machines as well, which really stands out with the Dig Dug. I regret not taking pictures, but I'm sure more impressions will be out soon, since if they're in my local Walmart already they're probably going to be found everywhere. It will be interesting to see if they do those cut down static-screen versions of these games, but sadly now that the local ToysRUS doesn't exist, I haven't seen any local stores around there that carry those smaller units (which means I've yet to see that neat version of Tetris either)
  14. Sorry for the quintuple posts! Mobile internet was being a butt.
