  1. I just tried the V7 test. It's quite impressive. I only found one real issue, and that's the lack of corner cutting-- it's basically impossible to get a ghost off your tail once one's there unless you have a power pellet. Still, a MUCH better job than Atari's own!
  2. I can see it in about 80% of TVs when game mode is turned off or not available. It definitely screws with my timing in games like Pitfall. I'd consider your experience an extreme outlier based on what I've seen from forums, personal experience, and friends complaining over the years.
  3. Actually, it does matter. Having the image pre-upscaled in the console means you're not relying on your TV's inevitably slower upscaler and thus you get a lot less latency on the gameplay and controls when you're outputting your TV's native resolution. Having a TV with a game mode also helps, of course.
  4. Yeah, no problem. I had a feeling it'd be something like you described based on the feel of the problem, so I just figured I'd let you know about it for when you can get to it.
  5. It's been awhile. I don't know if I ever got to thank you for those controller fixes last year-- I had a master breaker fry and take me offline (and completely without power) for about four months. You'd be amazed at how much paperwork it takes to get permits to fix an outside breaker box. Any case, I digress-- thanks for your help with the earlier issue. I just updated to 3.4, though, and I've hit a new snag. The analog on the joystick is overriding the hat inputs *and* the keyboard inputs, even when centered and not in use. On Pitfall, if I don't touch the analog and then hold right on the keyboard or hat, he'll inch forward and *stop* in place. If I wiggle the hat (directional pad in this case) up and down while holding right, he'll inch forward repeatedly with each change from up+right to down+right and vice versa. I tried checking the deadzone, and that had no effect-- I wasn't really expecting it to, either, considering he wasn't running anywhere with the analog centered and no other inputs. This is on Windows 7, using both x64 and x86 builds, using an X-Box 360 controller but probably can be reproduced with any controller that has D-pad on hat and analog stick as X/Y.
  6. Well, the joystick hat issue has been worked out with the assistance of Stephena. Thanks again for the help, and you've got a great piece of software here.
  7. If you need me to run some test code, I'll be glad to do it if it'll help you narrow things down faster.
  8. Having an odd problem with joystick-- The joystick appears to Windows as a hat rather than X/Y axis, and works fine in everything but Stella. When I hit a diagonal, an axis is locked on even if I stop hitting the diagonal. For instance, in Yar's Revenge, if I start moving up, then switch to diagonal up and to the right, then back to up, the thing will continue to hold down the right as well. If I switch to diagonal up/left, then back to up, it'll hold left. The only way to be able to use a single direction again is to actually recenter the stick for a moment. Keyboard seems to be perfectly fine, though.
