NTSC core for VBXE?

Thu Jun 8, 2017 5:16 PM

Well, I finally got around to installing my VBXE. As far as I know, there is no VBXE core that has NTSC colors for the palette by default. I imagine it's not too hard to update the core to contain a different palette, if one had the source.

Anyway, I believe Electron was the designer for the VBXE, and still retains rights to the core. Anybody know if he can be contacted to ask for an NTSC core? I don't even know if he speaks English....

I suppose you can load a new palette with software, but that won't be persistent between boots of course. I know we just went through this with the Sophia, does anyone remember what palette ended up being used there? Otherwise I have to look through the whole thread again....

FYI: #RespeQt on FreeNode IRC

Mon Apr 24, 2017 12:48 PM

Just so everyone knows, there is officially an IRC channel on the FreeNode IRC network called #RespeQt. There has been for a while. Currently I'm the only one there, come give me some company!

If you don't have an IRC client, and don't feel like installing one, there's the FreeNode webchat client at https://webchat.freenode.net/

While you're there, you can visit ##atari as well, and I think there's a few other classic computing related channels in general.

This is potentially a faster way to get support for RespeQt. My computer is generally logged in all day, but I'm not always at the keyboard.

If you'd like to do beta testing, for the moment you will have to build from source, at least until I get a chance to build a win32 version. If I don't have that by tonight (say in 10 hours or so) remind me to do it.

If you have any issues with the beta that didn't exist before, or spot an issue in a new feature, list them here or open an issue on github. On the other hand, if you feel you've given the beta a decent test, but have nothing to complain about, then post that here too. If you don't post at all, I don't know whether someone downloaded and didn't have issues, or that nobody bothered to try it out.

Announcement: Friday night PR deadline for r4-beta

Tue Apr 11, 2017 3:13 PM

A long overdue announcement I think, but the last pull requests I will process before compiling and creating an r4 beta to be released is this Friday, April 14th, 2017, Central Daylight Time (GMT-5:00). You might squeak by if you get a PR in by early saturday morning. After that, I have to begin the painstaking process of doing all the little things to prepare for release, and the time from the beta to the actual release can't have any new changes in the master branch. I've got a text file somewhere reminding me what all those little things are....

I may be contacting contributors privately to discuss certain minor aspects of this process, in particular, applying the proper copyrights to new files, under the proper (preferred) names/handles.

So, long story short, if you're a contributor with something worth making it into beta, go ahead and make a PR by Friday so I can merge it before I release the beta.

Thanks
