Maybe one of the soldered connections inside the 4 port RF Auto Switchbox is loose. This happened to my 4 port, the RCA connector with fat insulation hanging off it caused the breakage inside. An easy resolder job.

Is it to do with Congo Bongo requiring a further reach of the analog controllers to register the downward control, and maybe the pots in my controllers need an adjustment?

I'm leaning toward this. Try tweaking the pots slightly inside to get them exactly centered.

Ohhh,so I slide those switches  on the side of the controller till they center the crosshairs in middle command? So there for calibration purposes.

The "slide switches" are not really switches, just an adjustment to each potentiometer position inside. You can calibrate the left right control in the Galaxian game. When set correctly, the left and right extremes of the joystick will make the shooter slide across faster.

I am starting a crowd funded project for an new Atari 5200 controller. It will be modular in design, do all the functions of a real controller and have a trackball function added as well. In the design stages right now.

Just some friendly advice... I don't think the idea is fleshed out enough for people to jump on board. If I wanted your product, I still wouldn't help fund it, because I don't have the confidence that you will complete the project/product to my satisfaction. I'm not saying that you won't complete the project, but I don't see evidence of that in your presentation, and that is what matters. An idea and a bad photoshop picture do not make a product. After making at least one prototype, create a comprehensive off-line pitch, and pretend to sell it to your friends (or here), asking for honest feedback on what needs to be changed before starting the actual campaign.

Agree, I would not put a penny into this for just a poorly drawn up image with copy pasted JPGs of components. It would look halfway presentable if the images were placed on top of another screen grab of a project box.

@ robertski - The concept of a new controller is nice but just a drawing is not enough. Have you looked into parts needed, wiring and construction? Do you have an understanding of soldering wire layout and punching out holes in sheet metal using a step drill? Electrical issues such as the Trakball and from what looks like a Digital stick interfering with each other; they would need to be isolated with bypass switches. The Digital stick also would kill compatibility for some games.

It would be better to build a working model first to see what you are getting into. The custom controller can easily be done for under a hundred bucks. Post pics with details of how it is built and only then ask for money for your product.
