I think it's kinda cool.  The thing I like about it is that its "DIFFERENT!!!". I really hate it when it seems like everything today is a upgrade from the pervious systems that where out without offering something new.

The thing I don't like about it is that it's going to be victimized by good game developers like how the Wii was. The Wii was great system buy not too many developers made worth while games cause "" Nintendo"" is a kiddy system and thats just totally BS cause Nintendo made/Published great mature games like 007 golden,Conker bad fur day, killer instinct 1&2,Perfect dark house of the Dead overkill ect.

I think if Nintendo can get developers behind them that actually use the new hardware they could have a winner on there hands.

So according to eBay my CIB copy of Doom is arriving soon!

I hear alot of people saying how Doom for the Jaguar is one of the best versions to play.

Me being a huge fan of the Doom series wanted to check out all the hype.
So I was wondering what makes it the best version?

Also by best version I'm assuming its 'for its time' since as of now I'd imagine the best version to play would be the one you can buy from xbox live/PSN.

If you want the ""finished"" version of the game. The GBA version use's same code as the Jaguar but also had the music and a little more finish than the Jaguar version.

Difference is, paying $60-$100 for a single old shonky 8-bit or 16-bit port (or comparable looking) for a Jag homebrew is not cool.

Potential copyright infringement aside, be nice if dozens/hundreds of old ST games could be ported and then slapped on to a HUGE compilation disk with a nice front end for use with the JagCD. Similar to what's been done on the Amiga CD32. Yes, I understand the difference in porting in this example (sell it at a price that makes sense for both consumer and the hackers), but do that and now you've got something of value and worth getting all excited about. Especially by those of us that have had extremely bad luck with original AtariST hardware or would like to play ST games with something other than a 2600 controller and on something larger than a 12" or 13" screen.   ;)

Hay saves check it out... From  http://www.mdgames.de/tosonjag.htm

In Topic: How are Macs at emulation?

Mon May 28, 2012 10:27 PM

Personal I think emulation is kinda finicky on both fronts Mac/PC. Not do to hardware but mainly on compatibility stand point depending of what version and type of emulations/emulator depends on your features and work ability.

Example: Mame ver 1.xx might run a game at full speed and would be fully supported. Mame ver 2.xx it might not work (version number are made up only and not office version number I have not emulated in a while) Than you have winmame I think its called and mame32 and numerous front ends ECT that can cause incompatibility

I would almost say a Wii would just be as good as PC or Mac for size and convince and a lot less looking for add ons and features and roms and compatibility . You might have to pay but you get what you pay for... sure the selection might not be the biggest but when are you going to play over 45,000 games?

Funny side not that the Dreamcast/Gamecube/wii/xbox360/PS3 are all base around a PPC processing.
