About Me

Atari VCS 2600 programming scrapbook

Cool tricks found on the programming forums:

TIA hardware information:

Useful weblinks:

Atari VCS 2600 projects
Zaxxon HD Demo
Another DPC+/ARM demo. It uses interleaved Chronocolour ™ and flickers red/green/blue bitmaps to produce an 8-color screen. The demo features a scrolling background and a controllable space ship.

Ray Casting Demo
A Harmony DPC+/ARM demo that renders a 3D maze with playfield graphics using 2D ray casting.

Parrot Demo
My entry in the Atari 2600 Parrot Programming Challenge.
Knight Rider Demo
Didn't you know that I'm a secret member of Team Savage?

A mixed gate-, register-transfer-level simulation of parts of the Atari VCS 2600's TIA chip.

NoisePlayer Demo
NoisePlayer is a small pattern based music player (Ballblazer demo music by various AtariAge members).

Donkey Kong VCS
A new multi-color themed Donkey Kong adaptation.

AtariAge Kiosk
A recreation of the Imagic Display Kiosk splash screen where the company logos have been replaced with a colorful AtariAge logo.

Big Sprite Demo
Another bouncing object demo. This time it shows a big Atari logo that is composed of maximized players and missiles.

Interlace Smooth Scrolling Demo
A demo showing smooth and slow vertical scrolling. This is done by alternating between even and odd interlace fields of a video frame to give the impression of moving by half a pixel each step.

Ball Demo
A simple bouncing ball demo that shows how to do horizontal and vertical sprite positioning.

Star Castle Title
My take on a Star Castle title screen kernel.
