  1. I got the .22uf 100V mylar capacitors I purchased on eBay in the mail today. I replaced the two in the Atari and it works perfectly now!
  2. I ordered some 0.22uf caps from eBay. I couldn't find any near me. I'll replace them, when I get them in a month, and let you know if it's fixed. I also got a 7805, just in case it still doesn't work after replacing the caps. Thanks, Angelo
  3. i just tested the 7805 in my 4 switch, it reads 10.22v and 5.33v. Would the 4.55v I'm getting on the 6er be too low and causing this issue?
  4. I took a look tonight and tested the 7805. I re-soldered the joints on the 7805, and it seems to work fine. I tested 10.30-10.39v on the un-regulated lead and 4.54v on the other. My adaptor puts out 14.8 and works fine with my other Atari. Does this mean the caps are the problem? How do I test them?
  5. I just completed modifying a heavy six switch. When I tested it on my 51" Plasma after installing the composite mod, I noticed after a few minutes of playing Super Breakout, it would randomly have a very loud static sound and a horizontal band of static across the screen. I didn't want to damage the screen, and it's the only TV I have, so turned it off. I assembled and installed the Longhorn video card myself. The Atari worked before the mod, but I didn't really test it, I only used it for a couple of minutes on a tube TV. The Sony Wega tube TV is now in the back of my Jeep to be dropped off at the hazard waste recycling center this weekend. The 51" Plasma was a Christmas gift, and I'll be hurt if I break it. Could this be: the 7805? Caps? Power adapter, or lose power cable/connection? Thoughts please… Thanks! Angelo
  6. Yeah, I asked him for an update (or a refund) on the 23rd and still haven't heard anything back. I don't think the mod is too complicated, all the hard work is done. I also don't think there's very much interest in it right now. Maybe in a few years when HDTV or 3DTV is the norm. It's definitely not a viable business. It would only appeal to the hobbiest to make these mods, and not for profit but purely to help the community and have something to do in their spare time. Anyone can source the parts. I think the board is the hard part, but what do I know. I had thought about ordering enough parts for 20 or so mods from local surplus electronic shops around where I live, but then I would need to rely on sourcing the boards and then hope that I break even (which would be impossible if you think about the amount of time it would take). For me, I could use the soldering practice and I find it relaxing, but then again I’m weird and I like Atari.
  7. I'm glad I could help! I think I'll try this mod soon. When I do, I'll post pics. I'm patiently waiting for my A/V mod from Parker before I even open my Atari. Actually, I have 2 Atari's - 1 vader and 1 4-switch woodgrain. Maybe I'll try this mod on the vader this weekend.
  8. I'm surprised that nobody wants to be more helpful. I'm also a novice and have no formal electronics training. You should Google "how to wire a LED" for more information about this topic. You could use this site to determine what size resistor you need: LED Calculator Also, this is a good read: Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) I would guess that you could solder right onto the +side of the voltage regulator. It should be +5VDC out. Does anybody have a better spot to take + from? I haven't even opened an Atari, but I bet the voltage regulator would look something like this: You can buy the LED and a pack of 150 assorted resistors from Radio Shack for under $10.
