  1. Any idea if Indiegogo might work? What if the idea is instead to buy Atari's properties and send them into the public domain?
  2. If every $1 = 1 share of Atari stock, I'd be in. It has to be "buy the assets" or nothing, all-in or nothing.
  3. Does APE2USB require the computer to be connected at all times? I'd like to use one of those USB passport drive, or even just a USB key.
  4. So now that i'm working from home, I want to get my Atari 800 (or XL) up and running again. My goal is to buy one/some/all of the fan-made products available to make it work like this? 1. I want to play cartridge and disk based games as roms or .atr files loaded onto some kind of Flash ROM module or IDE/USB hard drive. 2. For disk based games, I'd like the ability to save the game. 3. I want to play on the original hardware (no PC or Mac based emulators). 4. I don't want to mess with a disk-drive as I simply don't have the space for the equipment (let's just say I need to make sure the whole system can be hidden from view in a drawer) My goals are to: 1. Play all my old favorite games, and save them. 2. Develop a couple new games myself. So, what are the best options? Sorry if this is a common question.
  5. Nolan. It's so amazing to have you here answering questions! Here is mine: Will we be able to catch you at E3 this year? -Steve
  6. The last time I talked To Rob Fulop, he told me that Bushnell hired him directly. That has to be a least one small point for Bushnell, as Fulop was a pretty good choice...
  7. Thanks. We're taking a unique approach with them. Rather than a dry repeating of facts, figures, and stories, it's more of a cross between Dealers of Lightning and Cringely's Accidental Empires. Really want to convey the emotions and feelings besides the details. Can't hardly wait! Marty, we need to read these as soon as possible. I mean, hell, even the Commode-Door has a book. -Steve
  8. We have written tons of stuff like this In fact, I'm about to post a blog entry about the existing LORE section on digitpress.com! Before I do that though, where do we submit stories? Email them, or post them on the digitpress.com forums? Thanks, -Steve Fulton
  9. You know, I bought a Vectrex in the summer if 1983 when I was 13 years old. It was that, or a 5200, but since I already had an Atari 800... Anyway, it was very cool to have, but to some extent it was much like having MAME now. The games were fashioned just like coin-ops, and they were great at first, but got old fairly quickly since there was no "quarter incentive" to both keep playing, and stop when your pocket ran dry. Anyway, the built-in game Minstorm was awesome, and Armor Attack was brilliant too. Star Castle was not quite up-to-snuff , but it was still fun. However, I can't recall loving any of the rest. I had about 20 games. In fact, I recall some of the games (i.e Hyperchase) seeming like a "stretch" to achieve on the system. I still have it. The controller port stopped working sometime in the late 80's I still have all the games, the unit and a working controller. It I could get the controller port to work again i just might fire-it-up... -Steve
  10. Nope, nothing from Stella At 20. There are some quotes in part 2 from "Once Upon Atari" though. I will add more about Miner in part 2 when the 400/800 are discussed. I am a fan of his. If you have a good source, please point me to it. (besides that Commodore book). "Game Brain": I did research it, but the thing was already getting "out of hand" so cut it out, my bad. Right now I'm trying to find out if Atari actually released the "Pro Coach Football" board game in 1978. Any takers? "Discreet vs Discrete": Might have bee a global search and replace error, or down the fact that I can't spell. 1979 vs 1972: Fat finger. Everything else is down to my bad editing, my inability to see my own mistakes, or me being a bone-head.
  11. Atarinfogrames only took the Atari name because they were afraid Americans would boycott a French company after 9/11 and the whole "Freedom Fries" thing. Atarinfogrames had Roller Coaster Tycoon back when it was in the top-10 for almost 2 years straight, and they still could not not make a profit.
  12. One was called prcerght.bas or something similar to that. As well, there were tons of Pinball Construction Set executables that I just remembered. No idea what they might have been called. Long shot I know, but thanks.
  13. No matter the specs, in 16 x 9, 480p on a nice plasma screen, the games look about 10 times better than my PS2. Everything looks crisp, colorful, and detailed. Well worth the $250.
  14. Hi, Does anyone here know of a good, comprehensive Atari 800 public domain, BBS file library? I wrote a bunch of PD games and activities in Basic back in 1984/1985, and uploaded them to local BBS (LA area). When I sold my 800 in 1986 to buy an ST (worst.decision.evar) I, stupidly, sold my personal discs as well. I'd like to get a hold of some of my old programs. but the only way I can think of to find any (if they exist) is to find a BBS/PD library and search it for my stuff. All were .bas programs. One was a funny sentence generator, another was a game based on "The Price Is Right", another was a "music" generator that used paddles and joysticks. None of it was particularly good or well written, but I'd still like to see it again. I know this is a loooooog shot, but it's all I got. -Steve
  15. I spent the morning going through our sites, looking for games that would work on the Wii browser. These games are all Flash 7 or earlier, and use the mouse only for control. They are very basic games, but they are a good test for the Wii Also, none of these products are being sold any more (as far as I know), so you don't have to worry about me marketing to you. 1.
