Some controller and a/v mod questions

Wed Aug 29, 2012 11:43 AM

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone makes or knows where to get new controller internals? I know that Best Electronics has produced new internal controller replacements for the Atari 5200 joysticks and was wondering if something similar is available for the intellivision. I have seen plenty of controllers that don't work well, and the ability to switch out the old internal components for new ones would be great.

I'm also interested in modding one of my intellivisions so that it has either composite or s-video and audio output. Is there anyone that produces a mod for the intellivision? Thanks in advance for any help.

A new intellivision controller possibility?

Hey all,

I recently got back into playing my intellivision recently and the new homebrews are amazing. I was wondering what the possibility of a new controller would be? Perhaps a joystick and arcade buttons for the side buttons and a nice keypad or maybe even have a trackball in place of the disc. Is this even feasible?

Christopher Hawk's RGB to S-Video cable for the COCO 3

Thu May 31, 2012 11:25 AM

Hey everyone,

I have recently gone on a COCO 3 kick. This is the computer that I had when I was a child and I played countless hours on it. When I got the computer out of storage I was connecting it to my television via the composite cables. I noticed that the text while readable, was not that great. While searching the internet for a possible solution for getting better video out of the COCO 3 I stumbled upon Christopher Hawk's RGB to S-Video cable. The posting only had an email address and the post was from 2006. I emailed Christopher and got a speedy reply. I have to say that the experience dealing with him was a positive one from the get go. There was constant email correspondence throughout the entire experience and the cable was shipped quickly. I received the cable this past Tuesday and just got a chance to try it out today and all I have to say is WOW!

The quality of the build of the cable is top notch, and the quality of the video coming out of the COCO 3 is simply stunning. The text is completely clear and the colors are vibrant and really pop.

Just to get this out of the way, I have zero connection with Christopher. I just am passing along an extremely positive experience that I had with him and want to give other atariage members that are interested in getting the cable the information to get one.

You can contact Christopher Hawks at chawks <a t> dls.net  (change the  <a t>  to a @)
