  1. Yes, I think most of the other versions do have secret areas (that are only a secret until we know). For example in the Mountain King Atari 8-bit version it's at the bottom. The player gets stuck at the end. But I wonder if it's possible to continue climbing down some other way and how far.
  2. Hi, I'm the person who wrote the instructions on this website. Man, my brother must have spent months exploring the hidden world and then drew maps of it! It was so fascinating discovering stuff in there... it wouldn't surprise me if there is more to be found. And the extra controllers that actually help you go higher by adding ladders. I've reviewed the site around earlier this year and we're pretty sure we've included written everything we found. Glad to see people are still trying to find out about the hidden levels in this game but are we getting closer to a logical answer as to why it exists? And perhaps more interestingly, what else is there waiting to be discovered?? Tony Vancouver B.C.
  3. Has anyone done crazy things like opening up an Atari Joystick and held down 2 or more buttons inside? Some of the effects are interesting. Many are found at http://www.digitpress.com/eastereggs/2600.htm where I've submitted a few. But here are some I recently found: KANGAROO Tapping down all buttons causes Kangaroo to escape the level he's on. Depending how long the tap, he may end just below the regular level and you may be able to see him if you jump. If he ends down much further below the screen so you can't see him, Kangaroo may end up at the top if you jump (yes! the screen wraps around). SPACE ATTACK In space mode, pressing all button causes your gunsight to quickly go to the bottom left hand corner. VANGUARD Hold down game select and game reset. LOST LUGGAGE Holding down the Right and Down and Fire button and having the difficulty switch to B, causes another guy to appear outside the screen. TIME WARP Go through the games very quickly by holding down game select and game reset. Another, allow game to start playing. Then push game select and game will freeze. I haven't read/posted anthing for awhile. So I thought I'd mentioned this.
  4. One of my all time favorite Atari arcade game was Race Drivin'. I'd like to know what the meaning of the number 33 on a barn in the Regular Stunt Track (that has other racers and on-coming traffic). When the game starts, turn right around and drive the Wrong Way. Where the road divides, take the right one and watch for a small barn at your left. Approach the barn (by driving Off Road) slowly. When you get close enough, a door will suddenly appear on the barn with a very bright yellowed circled number {33}. I'd sure like to know what the number 33 signifies. Tony
  5. Difficult to tell if the last letter is Y or V. Found it: http://www.evg2000.com/graphics/dedicated/adversary.jpg http://www.evg2000.com/graphics/dedicated/advesarypic.jpg
  6. A few years ago I got I an oldie TV game: ADVERSARV model 370. It was made by National Semiconductor Corporation, Consumer Production Division, Santa Clara, Calif. © 1976 Measures: 23cm x 14cm x 5.5cm. Because I had assumed the games were black&white I only played it on b/w TV sets. But yesterday I brought it out of the closet again and played it on a colour TV and was surprised to see colour! There are 3 games. When you first turn it on: it's hockey in a bright blue background with 3 vertically bouncing dots in the field on both sides. The paddles and borders are yellow. Press Game Select: it's volley ball in green backdrop with bright blue top and bottom of screen. Press Game Select again: it's ping pong played against a wall in a dark green backdrop. One player's paddle and score is orange, the other is blue. In all games each player can varry the width of his/her paddle. There's also a single player mode. I find it a little backward. The on/off switch is on the left and must be slid towards you for "on" and away for "off". It has a reset button under the on/off SW. A switch for one or two players and channel 3 or 4 SW are underneath the unit. RCA phono jack or antennae screw-in are at the back of the unit for connections to TV. It powers jack by 12 volts DC. At front are two wires going to two hand devices. Both devices have reset buttons and sticks you move forward and backwards to move paddles on screen. The wires come in to the hand devices from behind them so when you hold them while playing it feels a little backwards. I wish I could provide a picture of it here.
  7. I'm not sure what 'the ability to halt' means. Do you mean the 7800 clean up the code and doesn't let it get messed up like it does in the 2600? Not at all crazy, this all sounds interesting.
  8. I have "Smurfs: Rescue in Gargamel's Castle". And I've tried to jump over the first gate or fence but just can't do it. We've tried so many times I'm begining to think there's something wrong with the game. The furthest Smurf has jumped is on the fence at the right end of it. He just doesn't stay up long enough in the air while moving to make it pass this darn fence. It seems unlikely to me it would be so difficult. Do anyone else have trouble jumping over this fence? BTW, I also have it for Colecovision and the same fence in that version isn't has hard to jump over.
  9. I have an Intellivision (model 2609) not working properly. I cleaned the game contacts for the cartridge and inside but it's still having problems. With the so few games I have (listed below), I don't know if it's worth fixing. The problem began suddenly. This is what happens. Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: I can get pass the map area and then travel around a little until the game freezes. Armor Battle: As soon as the game appears at least one tank is already damaged and the game doesn't reset. Astrosmash: game plays. But if I do a lot of moving and shooting it crashes. So I must pick my targets very carefuly. Auto Racing: same as Armor Battle. Pitfall: This is the only game that's good enough. The only glitchs are the opening and closing pits and the alligators mouths that move too slowly. It takes about a minute for the pits and the alligator's mouth to open-close.
  10. So the reason the 7800 doesn't emulate it the same way is because the 7800 cleans up the unfinished code better than the 2600? But the Genesis controllers didn't need to exit back then because regular Atari Paddles send the *same* signals to add extra ladders to climb higher as the Sega Genenis does. 869231[/snapback]
  11. Tried both ways. Only with chip facing forward it displays something that responds to joystick movment. I tried it in an Atari 7800 and it shows a blank screen with changing tiny line garbage on the left and with audio sounds like the tanks in Combat. I thought there's a site where the numbes on chips could identify the games?
  12. At a flea market, I had a chance to try out for the first time the Atari 7800. And I was curious as to what would happen when the Mountain King (CBS Electronics) made for 2600, is played on a 7800. Well, everything looks the same until you get up to the hidden world. In the hidden world it seems impossible to create ladders like you do in the 2600 to climb higher. Both the paddles and Sega Genesis controllers don't add ladders anywhere as they do when the game is played on the 2600. And the Atari Video Touch Pad, Keyboard Controller and Colecovision don't remove ladders. Why the difference I wonder. Some extra ladders are created when taking up the Flame Spirit with you. But it's still not possible to climb as far up as in the 2600. What could be the reason for the difference?

  14. I found a game chip which I assume comes from a game for Atari 2600 but can't be sure. I've been curious as to what this game was when it played. It fits perfectly in the Atari 2600 and 7800 but does not play. Just a bunch of random wavy colourful lines shows on screen and bad audio as if it hadn't been inserted properly. Inside the lines I can see some responce to joystick movements as if the game is playing a little. Printed on the (4cm x 3.5 cm) board the game chips sits on: ©1982, 75724, REV B. It has a disc capacitor wired to it. And printed on the (3cm x 1.5cm) chip: ©1982, 73982, 2332-16785, E 3982, Do these numbers give any clues as to what it is?
  15. I just bought my first ColecoVision at a 2nd hand store for $20 (Canadian) complete with the games listed below. I'm a lot more familiar with the Atari 2600 I've had since 1984. I knew Coleco exited but don't remember seeing one at the stores and probably why I never wanted one. The unit's more bulkier than Atari VCS, lacks difficulty switches etc, and for some reason has the power supply outside. Of course if it were inside the Coleco Vision itself would have to be even bigger. The graphics and sounds are more advance that Atari VCS. Was that the reason for having to build it this way? Anyway, here's a list of games that came with it. I'm curious to know the rarity and any easter eggs in each.
