  1. This only happens if an email is bouncing for some reason, I haven't seen false positives as far as this goes. If some of your emails are bouncing, which is not something you'd be likely to know unless you control the email server, this can cause a problem for mail delivery in general for the email server sending out the emails. This is the main reason this check was put into place -- if you have a forum where tons of old email addresses are now bouncing, that can result in your server being put on a blacklist, causing more email providers to block your messages from being delivered. I have unblocked it, but if this happens again it's unlikely I will be able to unblock it again. At that point, you would be required to change your email address in order to continue receiving emails from the forum. Take care, ..Al
  2. Wow, I wasn't even aware VMware had been sold. I use VMware Fusion on macOS. I'm getting so sick of companies getting extraordinarily greedy in the name of profits, while trying to mask it as good for the customer. First paragraph in the above article, "Broadcom CEO and President Hock Tan has acknowledged the discomfort VMware customers and partners have experienced after the sweeping changes that Broadcom has instituted since it acquired the virtualization company 114 days ago." Also tired of companies using weasel words to try and soften what they are doing, in this case, "discomfort". Give me a break. Another reason to avoid Walmart, and Target as well if they start this. I was in a Target yesterday, and the self-checkout area, which was six registers, had a line, and they had a SINGLE regular register open staffed by a human, and there was a line for that as well. I'm flabbergasted that they want to institute fees to use the self-checkout, while they are already saving tons of money by not having to have an employee at each register. Again, corporate greed is rampant and out of control. Just disgusting. ..Al
  3. I'm skeptical of this claim, do you have a recent article to support that? In 2023, YouTube had gross revenue of $31.5 billion. It doesn't look like they've released net revenue numbers, but I'd be amazed if they aren't making a handsome profit on YT, especially with the volume of ads they are running these days. https://www.businessofapps.com/data/youtube-statistics/ ..Al
  4. It's not unusual to get false positives like this, I've seen it various times in the past, usually involving compressed files and/or executables (such as game binaries, of which there are thousands of on the forum). I just scanned this page on an online checker. ..Al
  5. Not sure what software you're using, but there are no viruses embedded in the forum. Recently, Chrome and Firefox have started marking every single attachment with a .bin extension, and some other extensions, as containing malware or a virus. Which is patently false, they are just blanket labeling all such files as dangerous. Could be related to that. And it's very annoying, since I'm not sure there's anything I can do on my end to prevent them from falsely claiming such files are dangerous, short of renaming all these files to use alternate extensions (such as .a26 for Atari 2600 binaries). ..Al
  6. It's not really a one-time thing, it's an ongoing issue that I am working to solve. I want everyone to get their orders in a timely fashion (less than a week to ship), and also free up my time for the many interesting projects I'd like to embark on, for both AtariAge and Atari. ..Al
  7. It wasn't because of this. This is the main reason I moved the forums from a dedicated server to Invision's cloud service. Unfortunately, it's hard to know exactly how reliable and/or fast it will be until you've been on it for a bit. And now that some time has passed, let me just say I'm less than impressed and, frankly, pretty tired of seeing random outages. Most of the time it's very brief, but there have been several extended outages that have lasted several hours, or even days. So what I was expecting to be less of a burden for me has been very disappointing, and if I had known it was going to be like this, I absolutely would have stayed on a dedicated server. There have been other issues with the transition as well, such as the search speed / reliability being worse. Invision doesn't seem very eager to help -- I can setup a third-party solution such as Elasticsearch (which is what I had running on the self-hosted solution), but Invision hasn't been very helpful when I've asked about this, and it's not as simple to setup with the cloud solution, and it could be a significant expense given how busy the forum is. It's possible I will go back to the self-hosted solution. This will be more viable once I can greatly reduce the amount of time I spend building games for AtariAge Store orders, which is a significant goal I have for this year. I may also explore alternate solutions, such as XenForo. ..Al
  8. Atari will have a booth at PAX East, booth number 19025. ..Al
  9. Infogrames as a name ceased to exist in 2009 when it was renamed to Atari. ..Al
  10. I will help you with this today, my apologies for not doing so sooner. ..Al
  11. Yeah, I would not want that to be the default, either. ..Al
  12. These are not mutually exclusive things (meaning that the people working on cartridge compatibility aren't necessarily the same people who might add features like this), and I'm not suggesting diverting attention away from continuing to improve cartridge compatibility. And more progress has been made on that front recently that will please everyone, but I can't reveal the details. ..Al
  13. Why not have the options, especially if they are exposed with a UI that you have to call up yourself? If you don't want to use those features, then just ignore them. The rest of us, we'll have fun with these added options. It already has features that the original Atari 2600 did not, such as HDMI output, USB C port for power and firmware updates, and a 4:3/16:9 switch, so you're already well beyond the original consoles as far as those go. ..Al
