  1. Space Duel 7800 is in the VCS store! $8.99.
  2. The game is released today, and the music works perfectly now. 🙂
  3. I was a bit slow posting this maybe, but this is a thread for this software update. Version - 20240306.124251.production Build - P#2203 Date indicated 6th March 2024, but it was released last week, very smoothly. As usual, update can be applied in the background or at boot-time. Changes I know of: - New reporting function for bugs that attaches a Linux Log of the system that then gets sent to Atari (you trigger it). The Reporting is found in System and in the upper right, next to Help. - More info and features in the Pause menu when you hold down the Fuji button. - Extra information about software (like manuals) shown more obviously in both store and dashboard (via = button). - Games on Sale will be a lot more visible as the original price will be there crossed out and the sale price in red right next to it.
  4. The payment screen is back again now, but I have not bought a game so far. YMMV
  5. At this point, the update even on an original system, should work over the network. However, the flash from USB option is fall-back solution. Of course, in that circumstance, it's frustrating as hell compared to the normal network update. Sometimes, for whatever reason, if your system can't reach the Atari update servers, from your home network (and that can be due to an ISP problem) it does not matter if you are using WIFI or ethernet, because it's going through the same router. For some people, the solution can also be to connect to a phone phone hot-spot to update, if that person has a phone on a different network to the home router, and have a big data-plan!
  6. You would be the first person to have this problem, that I've heard of, even with one controller. The controllers, unless you would interrupt them during their firmware update, cannot get "bricked". I can't work out what the cause of the problem you're having with the controllers is. - Can you plug them into a different USB port as a control check? - There is a cycle of options for the Atari button to turn on the controller, wireless. Turn-on, turn-off, ignored, turn-on, turn-off, ignored etc. If the controller won't respond, release press it again, it might just be on the ignore cycle!
  7. It's been reported to Atari support!
  8. Pascal (OrangePixel) also announced this game is coming to the VCS. Snake Core is an Arcade game combining the gameplay mechanics of Snake but twisting and turning the setting and variationinto an inter-galactic war against an alien threat with a variation of mission types and army units. Command your army of different soldier units as they attack aliens, take out bombs, retrieve soldiers, defend key locations, and hunt down big Snake like creatures. The game plays in different game-modes, with a multi-route map that allows the player to decide the best route to the Alien Overlord. Grab power-ups to improve your soldiers skills, wipe out aliens, and increase your score.. because in true Arcade tradition, getting your name at the top of the high-score list might be the most important thing! AVAILABLE UNITS Soldier – Soldiers are pretty much frag-meat for these missions. But wee work with what we got.. Elite – Elite grunts are the best of the best, trained for off-planet missions like these. They also look pretty cool. Swat – Swat members wear protective gear, making them better in defending against alien attacks. Jeeps – Not a fan of these Jeep drivers, they are reckless and crazy. They do come in handy in battles, so we let them. Tanks – Tank drivers, the crazy ones! They’ll drive into anything while shooting like a maniac. Mech – Our scientists finally came up with something nice: heavy mobile robots, controlled by hand picked Elite soldiers. Medic – Soldier with medical training. With a medic in your ranks, you will increase the life-span of your front-runner. Defense – We’ve send out some protective guards to defend our scientists and their gadgets. (Mostly there to make the scientists less jumpy). Doc – Our scientists are working hard on… science things. Can’t win this fight without them! FEATURES Simple to understand game-loop – The game is easy to understand, and it allows everyone to enjoy the commanding of an off-world army with different units and strengths. Node based mission map – A randomized mission screen, allows you to choose which path you take to reach the end boss. Upgrades – Recruit new units, and upgrade your units for a stronger army. Short game sessions – Snake Core is designed for short gaming sessions, a great game to pick up at any time for a quick go!
  9. Pascal (OrangePixel) said in his latest video that a port of this game is coming to the VCS. It's a game which only people who play it will understand, apparently... Further explanation... ABOUT THIS GAME Sir Questionnaire is a turn-based hack’n’slash game, where you enter a dungeon and each room gives you two options: leave the room, or interact with what ever is in the room. This can be monsters, gates, treasure chests, pools of water, but also debris, or just another door! A game designed around the simple premise of adventuring: go west or go east? Every room you enter will give you a choice, either stay and fight the dragon, or turn your back and rush to the next room. If you have the right gear, you might be able to slay the dragon.. if you rush away, you might feel it's warm fiery breath hitting you in the back. No twitchy reflexes needed, this game can be played at your own pace. Make the right choice, use your inventory to gain the upper hand in any room, and move deeper into the dungeon!
  10. *Lunar Lander Beyond* When I tested this game so far, it was terribly optimised. Not just on VCS; in-general. I had to hope, debug code! When the game is developed with Unity, GameMaker2, or Godot, it's as simple as changing the "export/build target" to get a binary for a new platform. Mostly (and I've tested) games work without modification from Windows to AtariOS from these platforms, except for tweaking the controller mapping, which is a notorious problem, not just for AtariOS. 😕 When a simple game struggles on a gaming-PC, on Windows, yes, it's going to struggle on a VCS, on Linux, as well. I hope they optimise the game, and find somebody who's developed on Linux, and can thus assist with a VCS build.
