  1. I tried both with the option key down and not. I could hear the disk spinning when its first inserted when the computer is off and right before it says boot error.
  2. So, minor update. I got a 300-75 Ohm converter, and the picture was great. Unfortunately, none of my software or game disks worked. They all gave me "boot error." The lights on the disk drive were all lighting up appropriately and it was making normal noises, and the error light never came on. I don't know why, can floppy's degredate over time? They haven't been used in over 20 years, although they've been in paper sleeves in a plastic case since then. I think I may as well just sell it. All together I've got the 64k 600XL, a 1010 Tape Drive, a 1000 Disk Drive and a 1027 Printer. Would it be worth more all together or should I sell them separate?
  3. Is there a way to find that out using the serial number or would I need to take it apart?
  4. Thanks, that's very helpful. I'll be getting an adapter then hopefully playing some old school games.
  5. Yeah, it worked well enough to tell how much ram I had, but sound didn't work and it's very static-y, wouldn't want to play games on it like that. I'm just going to have to find the time to get to The Source and hope the adapter is all that's wrong with the picture issues.
  6. So I finally got it working, although there's quite a bit of static, because I found my nintendo's RF adapter. Ran this, and I got "37902." Thanks, I'll probably get one of those if sanding the connection contact on the unit doesn't clear up the snow. I'm totally new to this system, now that it's running, what can it do?
  7. If you are in the USA you might still find a female RCA to male F-connector adapter in a Radio Shack retail store. I've been using one for decades. I'm in Canada, maybe The Source has something like this. If not I still need to figure a way to splice something. edit: Would something like this work? http://www.thesource.ca/estore/Product.aspx?language=en-CA&catalog=Online&category=Video_Adapters&product=1501140
  8. You could theoretically splice a coax cable right to the RCA plug - iirc they're both 75Ω signals - then just plug it right in to an antenna input and tune to the proper channel. Never tried it myself though. Could anyone expand on this maybe in some detail? I've got the two prongs coming out of the switch box, or I could skip that entirely and do something with rca cables from the 600xl straight to the tv? Sorry I'm noob at this, it's been ages since I've dealt with ribbon cables and such.
  9. Having a little trouble getting it booted. The switch box only has the two old prong outputs, and I don't have a TV with those. I've tried plugging straight into RCA but figure that probably wouldn't work, different type of signal. I have a NES RF switch somewhere but haven't found that so far, is there any other easy way to get it hooked up to RCA or coax, maybe some kind of splice? (I have extra RCA and coax cables I could sacrifice.) And from what I read, it has BASIC on the flash rom, so I don't have the disk drive plugged in, would that be an issue or should I plug that in with an OS disk in it? My first PC was a Mac Classic so I'm new to this type of hardware.
  10. Long story short, I've got my hands on an Atari 600XL for free. It's not like anything I am able to find on Ebay though, because it has the keyboard, disk drive, printer, tape drive and all the cables. It is in running condition and has a bunch of 5.25" disks with games and software on them, but not cartridges or tapes or joysticks. Just wondering what I should do with this, is it worth selling, what might it be worth, or should I hold on to it?
