  1. If you still have any black thin dpads I'll take one! I'm in the US
  2. @SainT i replaced my BJL bios chip with a legit jaguar bios and it seems to boot up fine and play games. The gamedrive is giving me some problems still. When i boot my jaguar up with the gamedrive cart inserted, I get a blank screen partway through the jaguar logo animation. Any ideas? I took a video of what it's doing, none of my other games do this.
  3. ah, bummer. Guess i'll find a replacement bios chip then. So my Gamedrive should be good still then?
  4. Just got my gamedrive and have been having some issues with it. Initially i had to power off and power on my jaguar several times just to get the gamedrive to boot. I have a BJL chip on my jaguar, and when i try loading a rom it takes me back to the bjl menu. I figured i would try upgrading the firmware on it, but when i tried updating i got an error (don't recall the exact verbage, but it had something to do it failing to flash) Tried a few times and same thing happened. I powered it up again, and was on the BJL menu, and forgot to power it off and removed the microsd to try copying the firmware file again. I can't get it to work at all now, when i power my jaguar on with the gd plugged in it stays on the bjl menu screen for a second or so then the screen goes blank and i can't do anything. Other carts work just fine on jag. Did i hose he gamedrive cart? Could the BJL chip be the cause of my issues?
  5. Think you're on to something, it dawned on me that i replaced the isa graphics card with a vlb graphics card a little while ago and that's about when I started having issues with the drive. I removed all 3 cards(sound card, network card, and vlb card) the drive works perfectly again! Does the vlb card use any differing resources than a standard isa vga card? I never though much of it since i didn't think the vga card would have any conflicts with my floppy drive. Any tips for getting them all to play nice?
  6. That crossed my mind, I did try swapping the cables and no change. I even tried the "bad" cable in another pc and and it read floppies just fine
  7. I'm trying to install msdos from floppy, but no matter what I try it just won't boot from the floppy i have written. It will either just hang on a black screen or blinking cursor, or throw an error to replace disk. I've tried swapping the floppy drives and that does not change anything, and I know for a fact the drive I'm using works as it boots the floppy I made just fine on another pc i have. I'm at a loss here, I've checked in the BIOS and there's no weird settings there, and the jumpers on the main board look to be in good order. I have a trident vesa card, an sb16 isa card, and a 3com ethernet isa card plugged in. I've also tried removing the cd drive and hdd, but that also makes no change. Drive does attempt to read, I can hear it kick on after the POST and sometimes it will get to the booting dos screen but just hang there(when booting off the floppy). Floppy controller may be possible, as the disks I've tried work just fine on other pc's. Is that a certain chip on the mainboard? I did install dos 6.22 on another pc and then plug the hard drive into my ibm so I have an os now, and when I try copying files on floppy disks to the ? drive it say "Invalid Directory" and when i try formatting the disk I always get bad track 0 error and fails. Any ideas? My gut tells me it could be a faulty cap, but I haven't given it a good look over yet
  8. If it's not too late, I'd like to be added to the list as well! Im in USA
  9. Hey! if there's still a chance to get a lynx sd cart can i be put down an uncased cart? thanks!
  10. ok cool, i found a cheaper one, http://www.ebay.com/itm/1pcs-R6502AP-R6502-Rockwell-CPU-6502-IC-CHIP-DIP-40-/170828631732?epid=1056284449&hash=item27c62e0eb4:g:KOUAAOxyzfNRtoK4 should a r6502ap be pin compatible as well?
  11. is there a way to test to see which chip may have failed? could i just replace the 2364 with a jiffydos chip if that is the issue? And also if it does end up being the 6502 or 6522, what are mt replacement options? would this work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Conexant-Rockwell-R65C02P3-CPU-Processor-3Mhz-65C02-6502-series-/220858166872?hash=item336c2c2e58:m:m42n2HLWo5a3syzblx-oTqA or this for the 6522? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1pcs-R6522AP-R6522P-Rockwell-DIP40-CPU-ICs-/172651073688?hash=item2832ce5098:g:weEAAOSww5NZBGxw
  12. found a hell of a deal that i couldn't pass up! came with 2 mice, tons of games, a bunch of blank floppy disks, a magnavox crt monitor, and a 1541 disk drive with a some manuals as well. all for 125$!!. I already purchased an sd adapter and next pay check i plan on getting the 64nic+ and jiffydos. Everything seems to work great save for the disk drive which just spins and the red led stays on. led to believe its one of the chips onboard(from what i gather the culprit seems to be UB4, the 6522 chip, or the 6502 chip.). Not sure if i'm going to try fixing it or not, as for UB4 it seems i will need to burn a chip or find a donor both of which aren't going to be very cheap and a donor 1541 s a bit of a risk. the 6522 and 6502 i wouldn't mind replacing just to see if that''s the issue since they are pretty cheap. I'm pretty new to the C64 scene, so what else are some of the "must have" accessories for it, or some fun things i can do with one? If i can get my disk drive working i wouldn't mind using that and keep the sd2iec as a backup till the drive craps out for good. Really my only plans right now are to browse some old BBS boards once i get a 64nic+, so i'm open to hearing any other suggestions! Also, i have a sega genesis mouse, can that be used with the C64 as well? the two mice that came with it are in pretty rough shape, and cannot verify they even work at the moment.
  13. i've tried to find an answer to this, but my searching hasn't yielded anything really. Why was there never any sound on the jaguar version of doom? was it to get better performance out of the game? There are quite a few full 3d games(i know doom isn't actually 3d) that played music during gameplay like checkered flag, missile command 3d, club drive, and of course tempest 2000 which had a stellar soundtrack. the jaguar seems quite capable of producing pretty decent music, so why not doom?
