  1. Highly recommended. It is now the majority way I play Intellivision. I've talked about it on the Intellivisionaries podcast.
  2. Good question! I'm not a strong enough player to really attempt it - i.e. not sure my playing strength would showcase the opening's strengths or weaknesses vs. just my own play. I love Anna's channel. She's always so positive.
  3. Cool! Beauty and the Beast is a top-10 title for me. An improved version will be greatly appreciated!
  4. There were systems shipped with regular controllers and flat (i.e. non-bubble style) keypads. I never liked those, but they are out there. Maybe someone in the community has some spares. You shouldn't need to attempt an inty2 -> regular controller transplant.
  5. I have a few spare intellivisions that I've set aside for parts. I could look into pulling a cart connector off one for you.
  6. Ok, last posting from me regarding donations for the year. If you wanted to donate but haven't done so yet, now's the time! Donations up to the end of the year are still counted towards my 2023 campaign. This year was very successful! Thanks so much to everyone that donated! We'll do it all again next year!
  7. Since Chris claims he brings the sexy and he's the only one of the two of us that has a Keyboard Component, I'm going to leave this to him to champion.
  8. It works for me. Specifically, I'm using the ROM release -- I believe that's the one DZ has for download at his site. My Inty ROMs are all .bin + .cfg formatted. The .cfg file I'm using for Christmas Carol looks like this: [mapping] $0000 - $0EFF = $2100 $0F00 - $0FFF = $4800 $1000 - $2FFF = $5000 $3000 - $34FF = $7100 $3500 - $51FF = $A000 $5200 - $91FF = $C000 [memattr] $8000 - $9EFF = RAM 16
  9. Thanks for that. I also hit a similar wall with RGR. I still dip in every so often, but when they start chatting about politics I do not want to listen. It's kinda funny - I swear Paul and I have had a discussion along the lines of "should we do a political show?" something like 5 or 6 times because he and I have mildly debated some political/religious ideas. We definitely knew that it had no business being in the Intellivisionaries.
  10. Yeah, this ep was light on post-production. I wanted to get it out quickly while PRGE is still a thing people might want to hear about. I'm still working on a workflow pattern that will allow for more post-production in the episodes.
  11. Episode 49 is up: PRGE 2023 Wrap Up. http://intellivisionaries.com/episode-49-prge-2023-wrap-up/ What happened at PRGE? Two guys who were there will regale you with tales from Portland. All Intellivision themed. News and feedback, plus a correction for last episode! Available for your earholes via all the best podcast players.
  12. Yeah, I thought about doing a more complete investigative search after I had already put the console away - I was in the middle of my Extra Life Day gaming marathon and didn't want to spend more time getting it back out again. I'll definitely get it out and do a little more with it at some point.
  13. Thanks for that confirmation! This is what I was suspecting.
  14. I was playing the 5200 Chess cart some this past weekend. My understanding is that this is a conversion from the 8-bit program, which expects a keyboard in order to enter data for certain features. Does anyone know if the programmer who did the conversion enabled all the features to be accessed via the controller? And if so, are there any notes regarding how to do that? The only documentation I've been able to find is the manuals that came with the Atari 8-bit version, which don't actually address my questions. I DID find out how to set the skill level, and I assume also how to set it so the player can play black instead of white. But I don't know if the 5200 version will allow for under-promoting to a knight for instance when a pawn reaches the end of the board. The manual for the 8-bit version says that relies on a "setup pieces" feature that seems to need a keyboard. I know chess on the 5200 isn't a big concern for most. But I'm curious... Rick
