  1. It mentions Super Breakout and Castle Crisis on the Legal Info page, so I guess there was some hint they were there. (I have not plugged in my VCS controller to "activate" them) At skimming the list I didn't see any other obvious inclusions, unless I'm missing something.
  2. EDIT: It's alive! It really does need a low power, USB A to C adapter, just like it says in the manual. I assumed (I know) that any 2024 released device would kick down any input it got over USB-C but apparently not. Booted up perfectly with a low power A to C cord. Nothing USB C to USB C worked, even on a lower powered battery. sigh. Read the manual word for word and don't make assumptions. (Although I suspect I'm not going to be the only person who runs into this problem!) ----original message: I probably already know the answer and it's likely DOA, but ... is there any trick to actually turning it on? I've tried a Switch power adapter, a powerful enough USB battery pack, a few different cables.... pushing the button does nothing. Is it at all picky/is there any reason to keep trying? (I also got the crappy Amazon "shipped in a barely padded paper envelope" packaging and am not happy about it, although I sort of doubt it's why it's DOA)
  3. Thanks for the info, I went ahead and ordered after I saw your message and it does indeed work perfectly. (and that's the exact version of the m30 I had as well)
  4. It won't cause any quiet long term damage? Wow, I guess I missed that in the thread! Thank you! (and yeah, I just bought it from the Stone Age Gamer batches last month, so that's great news)
  5. I have to apologize for the possibly really dumb question, but is there any way to tell if my pre-modded 7800 from 2010 will have the issues with output/incorrect wiring from this photo of the mod? I got it out of storage to try out my new GD and then stumbled across this thread. I don't really have the skills or tools to fix it, but I'd rather not run the risk of killing my cart if I know in advance it's not good! (it looks like everything is almost identical to the mod reported at I vaguely remember there were some audio issues when I got it but I don't remember what they were, and I stupidly didn't grab any 7800 carts figuring I wouldn't need them with the GD, but I suspect just from its age/era it's likely to need correcting, somehow, even though I bought a cable for the AV port so I don't truly need the mod anymore. Thanks!
  6. Has anyone tried just the 8bitdo Retro Receiver Genesis adapter (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MSWGSJY ) with the Mega 7800? I already have plenty of controllers, I guess the m30 is only a bit more but I just want to have something wireless for my 7800+Mega7800... I would *assume* it's basically the same as the m30's adapter, but assumptions can be dangerous...
  7. Wow, finding this thread today was a whirlwind (crazy I never noticed it in being a member here forever). Especially with the news of his passing. I wanted to thank everyone who's contributed to this history. I quite honestly had no idea this device ever actually came out -- I remember Atari hyping it like crazy back in the day and then it seemed to just disappear, I sort of assumed it never made it past the prototype stage like so many of Atari's other amazing but sadly under-funded or under-supported ideas. I will need to spend a lot more time here going through the videos and documents posted because I've always had a fascination with synthesizers and the possibilities since I first got my ST back in the day, but sadly none of the actual musical talent (or patience?) to actually do anything with it. But this stuff really fascinates me so thank you to all who've worked so hard to preserve the legacy (and thankfully managed to save things from disappearing forever from the estate!)
  8. It's up in the store now, but there seem to be some issues actually getting it downloaded... but you can buy it! (the VCS doesn't seem to actually start the download even with plenty of space)
  9. The emulator is really beyond fantastic, to go from decades of "really spotty and mostly unplayable" emulation, to "these 6 games in this collection run really well", to "yeah, most everything for the Jag now mostly just works" in the span of a month is mind-blowing. Works great on the Steam deck and various older and newer hardware I've tried it on. It's been a massive nostalgia trip because even though I still have a functional Jag and nice collection, it's not always the easiest system to just hook up and play. So much nostalgia from those years..... I'm probably one of the few people (outside of here) that the Jag really was my primary console in the mid-90s because I was such an Atari fan... When Atari 50 came out I had really hoped maybe there'd be some sort of weird sideloading/hacking/injection method to swap out the Jag ROMs with other games to maybe be able to try out others, especially as there were vague hints of it "playing the entire retail collection" (I figured DLC was planned). I never imagined it'd lead to the best Jag emulator we've seen. And really hoping for the best in his health and such, I lost my mom when she was relatively young to cancer so I always choke up a bit reading others' battles.
  10. Were you actually able to complete the BPM Boy purchase at 50% off? I just get a message that the code isn't valid for it.
  11. Thanks for the head's up! Still disappointed my Gamestop classic controller order didn't get fulfilled at $29, but this is close enough to at least make sure I get one since they seem to be disappearing. I live about 50 miles from a Microcenter where the website said 1 in stock at the store, but my zip code was acceptable to Best Buy so I got a price match with free shipping with no argument.
  12. This is really an exciting release, as others have said it went from "Oh, another Atari compilation?" to day 1 purchase with the Jag games. I desperately hope the emulation for the Jaguar stuff is good, both for nostalgia and for not having weird emu glitches giving people more reason to pile on the Jag... I can see this being one of those releases I somehow manage to end up owning on 2-3 different platforms.... even though I probably own every game on it already.
  13. Ok, to follow up on my own question, I bought the CT2K16G4SFD832A and it is not working at 3200mhz. However, it DOES boot the system and run fine with RAM settings at AUTO/2400mhz, so at this point I think I will just keep it and use it, before Amazon bans me for buying every type of RAM trying to find a magic set that actually works. This is better than the recommended Team Group 32GB RAM in this thread which I could not make boot the VCS at all. I would rather have 32GB than 16GB so I did not try any of the recommended 16GB sets. I was tempted to mess around with the additional RAM Timing settings in the BIOS besides just memory clock (I assume the VCS BIOS just doesn't know how to handle these modules) but honestly, just testing it for 3200 was a bit of a nightmare and took a few re-installs of the RAM and finally a battery pull to reset the settings before it'd allow me to get back to AUTO/2400mhz for the RAM. (Even after reinstalling the original 8GB RAM modules it just did the high fan/black screen thing no matter how many times I pulled AC). So, some people have said the CT2K16G4SFRA32A set does not work at all, but at least (For now, with the modules I bought) CT2K16G4SFD832A functions, but don't try to go to 3200mhz.
  14. Has anyone done any checking if the compatibility issues are related to dual-rank vs single-rank RAM? I know the common Crucial set is a no-go, but the commonly mentioned and slightly cheaper set is CT2K16G4SFRA32A which is not guaranteed to be either single or dual rank. Theoretically dual rank would be better performance, but is usually a bit more expensive. There is Crucial CT2K16G4SFD832A which is specced on their webpage to be dual rank and I can't find if anyone's tried it. (it's also quite pricey) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q7T9NSC?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1
  15. I am having the strangest experiences with my VCS, it's like Bizarro VCS where nothing is as anyone describes. (mine didn't seem to have any sort of BIOS password at all, but it appeared to be entirely brand new, not sure how that's even possible. I couldn't get into the BIOS at all until I let it fully upgrade, but now I press ESC on bootup, go into settings, and I can access everything without a password and it says the password is cleared) Sadly that is going on to the Team Group 32gb x 3200mhz RAM, I bought from the Amazon link in the OP because it was $12 cheaper than Newegg (sold by Team Group, Inc, and shipped from Amazon. I 'assumed' that was as legit as it gets) and got the dreaded Full Speed Fan Spin and no boot from the start-- I assumed it would at least boot normally until I pushed the RAM timings to 3200mhz, but it wouldn't even turn on with that RAM installed. Putting the original 8gb back in was fine, which is good, I guess at least I didn't break anything! Not sure if I should try to replace it (Seems a bit like it's DOA if it won't even boot at default VCS timings), or order from Newegg, or if something's changed and this RAM isn't good anymore. I did notice the TG Ram had RAM chips on both sides of the module itself. Probably normal for RAM that dense but I'm curious what might have changed, not that it matters since it didn't work. Has anyone ordered really recently (in the last couple of weeks) from either place with success?
