  1. Oh you should definitley play PS1 on the MiSTer. Not sure why you haven't yet I put all my psx faves on it like Einhander, etc.
  2. What crowd..you mean stuff like Double Dragon? The original arcade Ninja Gaiden absolutely 100% stood out as a new style fresh beat-em-up with unique features like the ability to grab/move onto overhead items, hurdle over enemies and throw them into objects, etc. I remember totally wishing we would see a home port of it and being very disappointed by the NES version.. BUT eventually grew to love it lol. Anyway yes, by the time it got ported to the Lynx, Beat-em-Ups were pretty common but I still think it was an accomplishment we finally got the arcade game for home play.
  3. I've never been one to talk about markets, company decisions, or any of that high level/broad-view stuff etc.. I pretty much only know my own simple viewpoint as a consumer back then. And as an 20 year old avid gamer who had money to spend in the late 80s, I bought both the Lynx and Gameboy at launch and was enthusiastic about both platforms. But the GB won out for me while the Lynx eventually gathered dust. Yes the software was a big deal.. While I'd be the first to show anyone the awesomeness of having Stun Runner.. on a HANDHELD.. The avalanche of software on the GB was simply "more". But, aside from the software, a lot of it was the hardware! The Lynx was big.. I couldn't carry it as easily in my pocket as an original GB. And as we all know, the thing ate batteries. Back then it was a hassle and expensive to maintain the ability to play the darn thing on the go for only a couple of hours. So I used it tethered to an adapter in my bedroom a lot... So there went the portability. Even worse was eventually in my launch model the power-supply port got ripped off the 2 meager solder points and got lost. At the time I didn't have the ability or know-how to replace it .. so to the storage bin it went. The Gameboy on the other hand, had zero issues for years (and still has none) and long battery life despite me taking it everywhere. e.g. in the car, on planes, carrying it in my pocket walking around a mall, whatever.. and with plenty of games, it just naturally "won" out as my go-to.
  4. I'm having a relatively difficult time finding any .bin or a26 file to even check it out, so if it's fine.. I'll try my own. 😛 <edit> interesting! Yep.. confirmed Skeet Shoot 1981 Apollo.bin Fire Fly (USA).a26
  5. 2600 Hunt and Score/Concentration is a game who's playability is aided by emulation especially when you can speed it up 970% (e.g. in Stella) since it gets you past that "WRRRROOOOOOOOOOONNNGGG MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVE" buzzer sound in the game that much quicker
  6. Did you use the most current update-all script? And what games are giving that error?
  7. New score.. 18,398. I played this last night at like 2am before going to bed and unfortunately it ended up being a really good game that felt like it was taking forever and I was just thinking.. "come on I want to sleep.. just die already" Now that I'm much more familiar.. this game is pretty much a rapid fire shmup.. not really a "Space Invaders". But I definitely appreciate it for what it is now and it is a fun game.
  8. 1st submission score: 9014 Well at least this one is easier on me than the 5200 Galaxian one which confounded me with the enemy movements lol. Although, being a SI arcade fanatic, I've traditionally never cared much for the early home ports which always said to me "Tell me you don't know much about Space Invaders while programming a Space Invaders game" (the first one that "got it" was probably the SG1000 port). Anyway, for all the faults this version has I've softened up on it. It's a nice little member of the Atari 5200 library. Anyway.. first score 9014. I'm definitely going to try to improve that though.
  9. Miner 2049er was a game I really wanted to play/try via reading articles about it in magazines (e.g. below).. but never got the chance back in the day. Today I still enjoy playing it now and then but I don't have the cycles to get as deep into it as I probably would have had it been 1983. But what makes it great today is playing it on Atari 50th on the Switch where I can play it portably AND use save states to try and retry paths without having to restart all the time
  10. Honestly I'd be pretty happy with just some new 8-bit/5200 titles on there. Having them with save-states and portable is what I dig.
  11. Well Galaga IS Galaxian 2 after all.. both are great The one I don't like is Galaxian Pt. 3 AKA Gaplus. Never liked the sound in that game. Anyway I'm glad this is making me play 5200 Galaxian after all these decades. I totally rejected/ignored it when I got the 5200 at launch because by that point Galaxian was old news, at least in my mind. The 5200's version is pretty interesting because the movements of the enemies aren't standard Galaxian swoops. The way they can move erratically in weird patterns, or even just hover around remind me of Nintendo's Space Firebird. I also like how you can kill enemies without even shooting if they run into the bullet in front of your ship. Anyway.. first try 10,440. I will try and do better later.
  12. So i missed the memo on this game because I’ve never heard of its existence. As itself a recent homebrew is there a rom available somewhere or is via purchase only?
