  1. I'd love to do this to one of my XF551's as well as the drive itself was severely damaged during shipping. I have a Teac FD-505 and both drives are individually selectable via the board in the back. Mine uses the card edge connector instead of the pin connector.
  2. It's California.. Everything causes cancer. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  3. Nope. I checked and rechecked everything on BOTH Rana drives. Something is spewing interference that it does not like. It does have stock caps and I have read somewhere that they can cause interference since they are quite old.
  4. After taking the sensor out and rotating it 180 degrees, it now works. *stumped* Anyway, now to track a problem when the Rana's outer casing causes it to have issues. It seems that when I put the case on, it has a difficult time reading. Once I take it off, no problems.
  5. Curious. How do I wire it closed? I'm a little new to this realm.
  6. A total of 3x Rana Systems 1000 drives. One has a faulty Write Protect sensor, so EVERYTHING is write protected. So far, no gripes here.
  7. It seems that the write protect sensor on one of my Rana Systems 1000 drives has failed, therefore protecting every disk that goes in it. Is there a way to repair this and/or override the sensor?
  8. I was thinking of a cassette tape adapter to the PC's audio output port. As for the SIO2PC adapter, I have one on order from Lotharek via eBay. I also have an FTDI USB adapter coming as well.
  9. Sounds good to me. I have a few hundred blank 5.25" DSDD disks on hand that I bought from eBay (https://tinyurl.com/z3sh9yb). Just need to get them formatted and usable. I'd like to find a disk notcher, but what they're asking for is ridiculous. As for what "ijor" said, that is exactly what I was looking for. You don't even have to have an actual cassette on hand, just the cassette adapter and hook that to a computer's audio output.
  10. After playing with ADTPro, which can handle transfers from Serial, Cassette, or Network on an Apple II, it made me wonder if it was possible with the Atari. I have all my gear, but the filer with all my disks I had since High School was destroyed when my grandpa passed. It's not easy bare-metal bootstrapping an Atari as it is an Apple IIGS.
  11. Is there a way to create an Atari DOS disk through the Atari 1010? All of my Apple II, Atari, and C64 disks were destroyed awhile ago and I'm working on rebuilding. Kind of like reading sectors from cassette (aka. a portable media player via cassette adapter) and directly writing them to the floppy drive.
  12. 800XL's are great machines. Mine lasted for >10 years (new.. as in 1985 new). Unfortunately, all my Atari equipment disappeared when I went active duty in 1997. Ya.. I was not to pleased. Lost a pair of 1050's, a XEGS (full system), my Atari 800XL (what I started on when I was 7), and a good chunk of software.. along with all the power supplies and SIO cables.
  13. First thing.. Check your power supply. Is it putting out 5v or much higher than that?
  14. Impressive... and clean! *drools* Can't wait to get one in my 800XL!
  15. Any word on these? I just found a 1050 with one installed on eBay and they were starting at $1500. I was like "Are you INSANE?" Anyway, I'd like to get a pair for my two 1050's, if possible.
