#3217142 Yurkie's ColecoVision Mods RGB, VGA and HDMI May 2018

Posted by RedRaider on Sun Apr 12, 2015 7:12 AM

Yurkie my man!

Been a long time brother, I hope you and your family are doing well.

I see you had been tinkering in the workshop, and found a video mod which allows us to play Colecovision games while enjoying a resolution and color palate I imagine the designers never knew was possible. Bravo.

Looks like I will soon be sending you my YurkieVision for a much need surgery! Plus this was the final justification I need to invest in a FrameMiester XRGB, I have been eyeing them for over three years, along with scan line generators.

No need to allow my YurkieVision to enjoy all the fun, will also send in my NES which I have owned since 1988. This particular NES and I have a special bond, she deserves a make-over as well.

Again, glad to see you are still pushing the envelope with mods to provide a better experience for us Old School Gamers and providing your unique talents and experience by restoring old systems back to like new. God bless you brother. I will get in touch with you soon.

About three years ago I was fortunate enough to stumble across this particular thread and procure my very own YurkieVision. I purchased an existing Colecovision that Todd had in his inventory, ten paid for him to transform said Colecovision into a YurkieVision! They say pictures speak a thousand words, well lets listen to those thousand plus words shall we...😁

#2590099 should I get a 1st gen PS3? for how much?

Posted by RedRaider on Fri Aug 31, 2012 12:24 PM

Well to start with, make sure to buy a CECH-A01. This is the model I originally bought at launch. Comes with a 60GB HD and is fully backwards compatible. A larger HD can easily be installed as well.

Problem with these units are the weak-arse laser units. They will fail. Some people experienced over-heating problems as well. Trying to find one online at a reasonable price, that isn't some internally hacked-up POS, might prove to be difficult. Glad I bought mine back in the day!

#2580984 Bought my first Atari 2600 today !

Posted by RedRaider on Sat Aug 18, 2012 10:38 PM

Decided to take the plunge and invest in a Heavy-Sixer today.

Once it arrives at its new domicile this week, it will receive a thorough RedRaider cleaning, prior to its photo shoot.

Stay tuned...

#2578187 what got you into intv?

Posted by RedRaider on Tue Aug 14, 2012 9:17 PM

My first cartridge based system was the Intellivision, which I still own/play. Received it for Christmas in 1980. My neighbor had a 2600, which I wanted until one day at the Galleria in Houston when I first was exposed to the Almighty Intellivision. To this day I have yet to purchase a 2600 (though I own a cherry 5200 thanks to Akator). Wanted a Colecovision, but I chose a Apple //e instead for Christmas 1983. Got a NES in 1988, switched to Sega, then PlayStation, then XBOX. The rest is history.

Stumbled across AA in April this year and went on a binge spending spree. Being inundated with work and vacations this summer have slowed me down temporarily. But I'm about to make a quick little run then chill again.

Here are pics of my original Intellivision 2609A (which I've posted before):

#2572639 FS: Nintendo Controllers and Joysticks modified to play on 7800 or 2600

Posted by RedRaider on Sun Aug 5, 2012 4:46 PM

Do you use Vinyl Dye in a spray can? I am about to order some to play around with.

Would you consider allowing me to fund your dye purchase, if I decide to procure several of your modded controllers?

Hit me up via PM, if you'd like to not discuss this on your FS thread.

#2566759 Contraband Intellivision hats!

Posted by RedRaider on Thu Jul 26, 2012 10:07 PM

Ya i seen those. I like the trucker style hat. It's fits Intellivision perfectly. I'd buy one if they were a little cheaper.

I see you are a fellow fan of the old Foam Minnow-Dipper hats.

#2542931 Ball Knob mod 7800 controllers *Service Discontinued*

Posted by RedRaider on Sun Jun 17, 2012 9:02 AM

Either there is something wrong with your video mod, or your TV, but that screenshot of Commando is way off. Way too green. Most of the dirt not surrounding the palm trees should be brown/sandy colored, not bright green.

Also $189?! LOL!

I understand posting your observation regarding the inaccurate colors obviously displayed by the Atari 7800 in the first post, but kindly refrain from posting your troll comments regarding the price Yurkie chose for his modded Atari 7800's (which include much more than just a AV mod). No need for that kind of crap.

I have purchased a lot of hardware and software from Yurkie over the past few months (including a modded/refurbished Colecovision), I have experienced nothing but extreme satisfaction with all of my purchases.

If you are unable to afford something or hold some sort of jealousy, kindly keep that crap to yourself.

#2541747 Vectrex Kiosk Stand

Posted by RedRaider on Thu Jun 14, 2012 9:17 PM

Why not design something out of wood to at least cover the console, so it doesn't look like it's sitting on a dresser.

Don't take me the wrong way, as I am not dogging you or your effort, rather just stating my opinion on what I would send money with you on.

#2539512 treasure of tarmin 'sequel' of sorts on xbox live indie channel

Intellivision Productions WILL care. And so will the person who made this when he receives some very nice threatening legal letters in his mailbox.

And by supporting unauthorized productions such as this, you discourage other potentially legitimate projects from going into development.

In the end, you lose.

From this response I'm assuming you will be or have already ratted someone out.

This effects you how again?

FYI, I haven't lost anything, nor will I. I'm just enjoying this game right now. :)
