  1. I think a lot of the "boxes" that are found on Sears carts come from cheap materials being used in the prepress layout. In the early days of desktop publishing, each item was literally cut out and assembled to a "page" then a photo of that layout was taken to make the printing plates. It would seem the photo was exposed differently in the cut out areas, hence the "boxes". Or they could of reassembled a new layout from a previous printing plate.
  2. Does anyone have an idea how many were produced? Are they more rare than a Heavy Sixer? Obviously not as collectible, but somewhat of a nod to the bygone era of things being produced in the US.
  3. Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer Always spray to a microfiber then wipe the carts/systems/controllers clean, then wipe with a dry cloth. Never seemed to have a problem using on labels. Also use Goo-Gone.
  4. Is there any difference in the RF cable between the Heavy/Light Sixers/4 Switch Woody or Vaders? I have a Heavy Sixer in very nice shape except the RF cable which has electrical tape all over it. Wondering if I have to replace it with another Heavy Sixer RF cable or would one from a (much cheaper) model work just as well.
  5. Maybe so. Super Breakout was originally going to be a Sears exclusive.
  6. Brain Games is the one that I think had the most color variations for text labels: Yellow, Orange, A Metalic Foil Orange Label, Red, Blue
  7. Oh yeah, I think that is exactly what happens. There are other similar variations floating out there with other carts. I have a Street Racer version that isnt documented anyhwhere and I have never seen another one of: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/196819-odd-street-racer-label-variation/page__hl__+odd%20+street%20+racer#entry2510737
  8. Couldnt the same thing be said for the 1986 Atari Corp releases with the black tape covering the "Use With Paddle Controllers"? Cant be too hard to make those versions. Probably even easier than to get an end label perfectly off one cart and on to another. Then again I am a pro in Photoshop and could get an Activision label without Actiplaque! You might want to take off version b) of Air Sea Battle. Thats a Text 1/2! Keep up the great work, a very good reference tool!
  9. Does anyone know if the different text color variations were produced in tandem or did one particular color come first? Black Jack, Brain Games, Flag Capture, Indy 500, Slot Racers, Street Racer are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Most games you can tell because of the copyright being added, those came later (bowling is an example of this).
  10. Freeway was the first one my parents bought for me, finally answering the age old question of why did the chicken cross the road. I think Donkey Kong was 2nd.
  11. Just received a Space Invaders that has a Text 3 style (slanted e) main label but a Text 2 style end label. Havent seen this listed in any variations.
  12. Thanks for everyones reply. I generally like to stay in the $1 - $2 loose, $4-6 Complete. If someone has a mint gatefold Basic Math, I might bend the rules and go $7 But I always look for quality before quantity. My last batch averaged in $4.10 but lo and behold came in some rarer label versions (like a foil Brain Games) for common carts. A nice surprise to say the least. And every box was VG+. Not to commmon to see sharp cornered boxes for these 30+ year old games.
  13. Just want to get a general idea of what the average per cart price range everyone is willing to pay when buying in a lot. Stipulations are a Common-Rare mix with Good-Excellent label condition. Put down what you would pay for loose carts and what you would pay for boxed complete carts. Example 10 carts bought for $10 + $3 = 1.30 per cart.
  14. My complete boxed copy of Indy 500 is the original 1977 "Indy 500 11" Gatefold release, but my controllers say "driving" on them. My cartridge end label doesnt have the orange border like the older runs, I wonder if those were the kits that included the "Logo" Driving Controller. Love how the "Includes one set..." text on the front of the large outer box uses the Sears slanted S. Was Indy 500 ever sold without the Driving Controller? That would seem kind of pointless. But I do see quite a few in just the game box for sale.
  15. In Mame (I am using M+GUI) Under Properties > Control. Then I set the Joystick Deadzone to 0.00, and the Joystick saturation to 1.00. Just make sure not to do it to the Global properties for all the games or unexpected results might pop up. For Mess qmc2 - Its under Configure > Input Devices. I have played around too much with that so there might be a better option.
