Nope, we also have a box already, so only 98.99% to be done ;)

This isn't related to this topic but I just had to say something because I'm so happy to see Harold the dog from the Mr. Rossi cartoon as your avatar. You just made my day! :) I used to watch those cartoon movies as a child and I've never met another person who knew who Mr. Rossi was.

#3586935 What Is the Most Under-Rated Console?

Posted by Ska_music_fan83 on Sat Sep 3, 2016 8:11 PM

Honestly, anything Atari related is underrated in my opinion nowadays, especially the Atari 2600. When I go into any retro game shop, I rarely see Atari games given the "love" that other systems have. What I mean by that is they aren't displayed like everything else. NES, SNES and Genesis games are almost always in a display case that's locked up. Atari 2600 games are usually scattered in some random container or box or shelf somewhere that aren't as visible or they don't even bother to carry the games at all. I remember walking into a store one time that had Atari games on the ground in a dirty beaten-up box. They were still all dusty and dirty, obviously the store owner didn't care to clean them up before they tried to sell them.

Plus new "retro gamers" these days usually don't even bother with the Atari 2600, they usually start with the NES or later, which is a huge shame because the Atari 2600 has some really good games.

Bah, humbug!

There are plenty of great games worth playing on the Cube besides Sunshine.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is perhaps the greatest RPG Mario adventure ever, with Paper Mario 64 and Super Mario RPG runners up.

Arguably the best Smash Bros.

Double Dash had the best battle mode of any Mario Kart with bomb blast, hands down.

Luigi's Mansion.

Wario's World, the first and only 3D Wario adventure.

Kirby Air Ride.

DK Jungle Beat.

Two Zeldas, albeit both are now available on Wii-U.

Ditto for Pikmin 1 & 2 and Metroid Prime 1 & 2, which got reissued on Wii.

A bit of an oddball, but true asymmetric gameplay with Pacman Vs. Why Nintendo did not reissue this game on the Wii-U Gamepad, I have no idea.

Before Virtual Console ever existed, you could play NES games in Animal Crossing.

An awesome futeball soccer game, Super Strikers...

Mario DDR.

Not under-powered, and actually semi-decent 3rd party support compared to N64, Wii, Wii-U, when you exclude FPS or RPG titles.

Although cute as they are, the mini discs did hurt Nintendo somewhat, much like the N64 carts... :dunce:

This!

And...

Timesplitters 2     (Like Goldeneye except with much more options and better graphics)
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures   (AWESOME 4-player adventure game!)
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
Ikaruga
Super Monkey Ball 2   (Such a fun party game...)
Resident Evil 4
Donkey Konga   (Another great party game...)

Just throwing my 2 cents out here and although it's been mentioned on another thread somewhere, the Nintendo Gamecube is totally underrated.

(On a side note, my 100th post. Woohoo!! *happy dance* :)

#3342112 My favorite underrated game for Sega Genesis...

Bonanza Bros.

Such a fun, quirky game that can be enjoyed with a friend! And it has a great soundtrack!

I always loved the sneaky laugh when your characters pick up the items. "rah ha ha!" :)

The second half of my gaming area is where my NES/SNES (as a Retron 2) and Sega Genesis reside.

Next to my systems I keep this for storage of my NES/SNES games and controllers.

Top drawer is controllers and gaming strategy guides. The middle drawer is SNES games with a few Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games.

The bottom drawer is NES games.

My Sega Genesis games are kept in a hide-away tub which has all of my controllers and games that I can slide out whenever needed.

#3292260 Ska_Music_Fan83's Gaming Area of Wonder!

Posted by Ska_music_fan83 on Mon Aug 3, 2015 9:48 PM

First off, it's not exactly an "area of wonder" compared to most of the gaming rooms that have been posted on this site but it sounded cool so I'm going with it plus this is where I do my gaming so it is an area of wonders for me. :P

My gaming collection is quite a bit smaller than a lot of collections on this site so I won't be impressing anyone in that sense. However, I just figured I'd share my little space of gaming with everyone.

So anyways, my gaming area is split up into two areas because it's the only way I could get it all to work in my apartment.

Here is the main gaming area in the living room.

Entertainment Center
Gamecube, PSX, 7800

My Atari collection of 2600/7800 are kept in two boxes set underneath my futon in the living room for easy access. I have one box with single player Atari games and the other box with multiplayer Atari games so that I am ready whenever company comes over. :)

My instruction manuals are all placed inside the boxes with the appropriate games in case I ever need some easy reading while playing.

One Player Atari Games
Multiplayer Atari Games
(The one game with the missing label is Mario Bros)

My Sony Playstation collection is kept inside a wooden cd case near my entertainment center.

My Nintendo Gamecube collection is kept inside an ottoman in my living room for easy access.

#3285089 Mario Kart Double Dash

Posted by Ska_music_fan83 on Fri Jul 24, 2015 11:34 PM

I've played every one, except for Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8, and honestly, Double Dash is my favorite for these reasons.

1. Being able to carry two weapons at once.
2. Each character (or matching characters) having a special weapon is unique and cool. (Chomps-Chomps are great!)
3. Being able to share a kart with a friend - makes it easier for a non-gamer to join in on the fun

4. Baby Park + 3 of your friends (or more with a lan adaptor) = awesomeness (especially when people get giant bowser shells and those things go rolling back and forth across the map) :P

Very cool collection! The ponies add a nice touch. :)

You have a great setup with five essential systems. I have the exact same setup except I have a retron 2 (plays SNES and NES) and I use an Atari 7800 instead of 2600. :P

Also, welcome to AtariAge!! :)

#2876131 Collecting: Is less = more?

Posted by Ska_music_fan83 on Thu Nov 28, 2013 10:25 PM

I am actually in the process of "right-sizing" my collection to just the games for each system that I enjoy/play the most. I'm down to just my Atari 7800, NES, SNES, Genesis, PS1, and Gamecube.

It's turned into a whole process where I use a spreadsheet to help me categorize my games into specific sports, action games, RPG games, puzzle games, party games, racing games, etc. So that if I find I have too many hockey games for example, I just look for the top few that I really enjoy and I sell off the remainder to eliminate redundancy. It's kind of fun actually haha.

So I am definitely an advocate for "Quality over Quantity". :)
