#4243928 Berks Four (64K) - New Release

Posted by +Adam+ on Sun Mar 24, 2019 4:44 AM

Jon, thanks a lot for the new game! :)

(...)

Thank you for your time and effort, its really appreciated...

Any future thoughts?    :)

You may read about Jon's future plans here, in an interview from last year :)

An excerpt from this interview:

"My plans at the moment are to finish off the ever growing Berks game and upload that to the Atari forums. I then plan to convert the game back to the Plus 4 as there are still a lot of people who follow the machine … mainly in Europe. I think that will take a few months. As soon as Berks is out of the way I’m going to take a look at a Jet Boot Jack update. I’m hoping to make a single master disk that will contain the original version of the game, an updated version with (at least) 10 new screens and some new game mechanics … and then a new game that contains the main parts of Knuckerhole (I’ll call it something different though). Then I may sleep ;)"

#4235636 New game coming, on the quiet..Rodman...

As I have written on AtariOnline, in the newer v1.2 version of RodMän demos there are 2 colours of enemies  in low resolution version and collision detection seems better.

If this is new software, could they also offer it on Floppy, cartridge, or pay per download? My casette drive quit many years ago and had not much desire to get a new one.

It seems that when you buy the cassettes, you also get access to the files:

"+ Free Digital Download for use with SD2IEC / divMMC Future type devices or emulation"

Who is the programmer?

Someone in here?

Mika Keränen, known as Misfit, is from VIC-20 scene. It's his first A8 game I think.

#4154203 To my Polish Friends... congratz 100th Independence day!

Can we have a list of the top Polish A8 games as ranked by members in celebration of the event?

Well, there are so many Polish games for A8 - original titles and conversions. Everyone who reads this thread could create a different list I suppose ;)

In 2016 Polish "PIXEL" magazine published such Top Ten list of classic Polish Atari 8-bit games (in chronological order):
Robbo (1989)
Kolony (1990)
LaserMania (1990)
AD 2044 (1991)
Fred (1991)
Misja (1991) (also known as Mission Shark)
Hans Kloss (1992)
Klątwa (1992)
Operation Blood (1992)
Miecze Valdgira II (1995)

On that list purposely no later titles were mentioned - on separate "modern top ten" list there were included such games created by Polish teams as: Dyna Blaster, Yoomp!, Hobgoblin, Knight Lore, Assembloids XE.

There was also a separate list of exclusive A8 games, with Polish productions: Crownland, His Dark Majesty and The Great Return of the Penguins.

Don't watch the whole video, look for Druidarium from 5:27:

On Silly Venture 2014, four years ago, KK presented a great preview of Stormlord for Atari 2600 in game competition. The file wasn't published to this day. Could be not related with Druidarium, new KK's game - however, I just want to point out that the authors don't have to public their SV stuff.

#4149958 New game released: Total Eclipse

Posted by +Adam+ on Sun Nov 4, 2018 9:38 AM

Is it more of an expansion rather than true sequel?

Yeah, that's why I think it was published only as a bonus with some Total Eclipse editions, not as a standalone game (as far as I know).

There was a Spectrum Only sequel to this as well i believe.

You mean "Total Eclipse II: The Sphinx Jinx" - the same engine, the same look, but different map and puzzles.

That sequel also exists for Commodore and Amstrad CPC. C64 version looks like and sounds like that (the same music as in the first part):

#4149410 Playing Sam's Journey, would an A8 version be possible

Posted by +Adam+ on Sat Nov 3, 2018 2:20 PM

On Silly Venture there have been just shown such games for Atari 8-bit: "Flimbo's Quest" by New Generation (with nice parallax scrolling) and 8-directional action scroller "Druidarium" (WIP) by KK.
