I am thinking about buying an Atari 8-bit again. But before I do I want to find out if there are any emulators that can emulate the ability to piggy back cartridges? I have found a SpartaDOS X 4.22 cartridge ROM and have the Action cartridge ROM as well.

Action! was my preferred programming environment when programming for the 8-bit. If you can find it, that would be best I think. You can also embed assembly code in Action!, like I used to do, for those spots where speed was essential.
