  1. I'll throw my two cents in on the 2600+. I don't think it's doing enough to offer either a game-changing playing experience (as would be the case with an Analogue style FPGA implementation) or an easy entry into a user-hostile arena (as is the case with the Amiga 500 Mini) because Stella is not a difficult emulator to set-up and configure and there is definitely nothing like WHDLoad involved with running 2600/7800 games. It appeals as a collectable but that is all. It might offer some people the opportunity to buy and collect original games and pretend they're playing them on a real console but personally I would much rather have something that went all out to recreate an authentic console experience even if it cost a bit more money. I own and use the Analogue Mega SG, Super NT and Pocket consoles and would welcome a similar product for the 2600/7800 but the 2600+ isn't it.
  2. I think the Stella developers can leave the project with their heads held high. Stella is one of the most mature emulators there is and there are so many other projects out there that will never reach this kind of fruition. Thank you to all concerned with the project. Stella has done so much to enhance my enjoyment of the 2600.
  3. I haven't really used Steam much since I got an XBox 360 in 2016. All the games I struggled to run on my ageing Linux rig ran flawlessly on the 360 and since then I've preferred a service where everything just works. PC Gaming is the Wild West of the games market; fine if you're Clint Eastwood or John Wayne but not much good for the rest of us. The only current gen system I have is the Switch. Physical media and short download times for updates and installs wins every time. After the 360, everything in the Sony-Microsoft arena went insane.
  4. I ordered a TOTK OLED yesterday. I'm upgrading from a Switch Lite so it's new territory for me both in terms of hooking up to the TV and playing with the OLED screen. Most of my games are on physical media and I don't share my consoles with anyone so the primary-secondary thing isn't that big of a deal. I'm not too worried about transferring data at this stage either. I'll carry on playing the games I've made significant progress with on the Lite and use the OLED as a clean slate for everything else.
  5. I can also confirm that I was able to use my PayPal account to purchase an item from another website this morning.
  6. The message that comes up is "There was an error in the Shipping Address Country field" but I've given the country as United Kingdom (it originally came up as Afghanistan but I was able to change it). I'm using PayPal and it's been linked to the same address for the last 15 years.
  7. I've been trying to purchase this to no avail. I've registered with the store, gone through PayPal and it just keeps coming up with red shipping errors even though I've entered everything correctly. I'm based in the UK and I've tried to purchase with two different devices. Please help.
  8. Has to be the Jaguar. Either an FPGA replica, a comprehensive software emulation package or both. I've been completely priced out of the original hardware.
  9. This is a description of Cosmic Swarm which I am offering for Albert's consideration. Description: Under-rated shooter with Asteroid-based mechanics with a little bit of Centipede thrown in. Shoot multi-coloured insects that leave green eggs which can be destroyed when they turn red. It's important to keep the playing area as clear as possible as you have to re-fuel by touching a yellow sprite that runs up and down either the left or right side of the screen on a periodic basis otherwise the game ends. Did You Know? This game was also released on the 32-in-1 cartridge under the title Ant Party.
  10. Has this been and gone? I couldn't find it in the AA store and I haven't seen loads of posts about people getting their new 2022 copies of Boulder Dash so I'm not sure. It also says in the AA Releases thread this this is an "unlimited release" whatever that means in practical terms so a bit of clarity would be appreciated.
  11. I've just been playing this game and once I got the hang of the controls it became quite compulsive. It's definitely a shooter that requires the player's attention and not one for the "button masher". I used to have this game when I was a kid. It was part of the 32-in-1 cartridge that was bundled with the Junior console back in the early 90s - it was called Ant Party under that repackaging. This and Stampede are the two best games on the cartridge IMO.
  12. I had the STe Turbo Pack and the amount of games/software that came with it was a major selling point over the Amiga to my naive 10 year old self. In business terms, the Turbo and Discovery Packs were what Alan Sugar called a "mug's eyeful" which is when they bundle together a load of outdated gear they can't sell and present it at an attractive price point to inexperienced chumps. I think these packs were a good idea and certainly a lot better conceived than some of the marketing ideas for the Amiga (A500 Batman Pack excepted). I made the right decision for the wrong reason and even when the Amiga became available to me many years later I still preferred the ST.
