1. Thought I would chime in and share my experience. I bought an Atari 8-bit USB programmer and 1MB flash cartridge on April 15 from him. His site advertised next day shipping and his products seemed to have really good reviews online. I was a little concerned because this was my first time buying from Atarimax and I didn't receive any confirmation of shipping or follow-up emails after an invoice for purchasing. I ended up sending him an email that weekend and he wrote me back a few days later saying he had some issues with production and would be shipping it out on Monday. Although he did send a tracking number, it hasn't updated from pre-shipment, which means it hasn't made it to the post office yet. I Googled "Atarimax reviews" and came across this thread. I had no idea that he had health issues. I really feel for him for whatever he is going through. I also kind of feel somewhat weird knowing that information because it's somewhat personal, but I understand the delay a little more now and I'm hopeful that he will still make good on my order. Despite those issues, he still seems to be a huge asset to the Atari community and his products all seem to be well-regarded. I will continue to be patient.
2. Top Hunter is one of my favorite Neo Geo games. It's super fun and there's enough variety that it doesn't get old playing through it. Really great choices, Anthony!
3. Hi Byron and Anthony! Sorry it took me so long to reply. Busy weekend. I subbed to Byron's channel by the way. Great content! As far as the Neo Geo Pocket, I really think it's an underrated system. There are some fantastic games for it and it has crazy long battery life. Not to mention the systems themselves are still fairly cheap on eBay if you're looking to pick one up. There are a few things you need to know if you're planning on picking one up: 1. They are not backlit (just like the Game Boy Color), so you will need to play it in a fairly well lit area. 2. A lot of the rare games will cost you. I suppose this is true for most retro systems though. 3. You will have a to import the majority of games from online sellers. In my experience, I very rarely come across Neo Geo Pocket games in the wild. 4. There is an internal watch battery that saves system data like date and time. It's super easy to change and cheap. If you come across a Neo Geo Pocket giving a memory error, you just need to change that battery. 5. It's a lot of fun! Hope that helps you out, Byron! And welcome to the forums.
4. Hi everyone! Mike here from RETRO Buyer's Guide on YouTube. Anthony asked me to make a video talking about my favorite NEO GEO memories. I kind of went overboard though and made a video talking about all of my childhood gaming memories! If you're just interested in my first time playing a NEO GEO arcade cabinet, you can fast forward the video to 15:35. Special thanks to Anthony for inviting me to take part in this forum and project! I really appreciate all the support from fellow NEO GEO enthusiasts!
5. Hi everyone! I just wanted to drop by and wish this thread a very happy second year anniversary! Anthony has done a fantastic job keeping this forum going with his knowledgable and enthusiastic posts about NEO-GEO. The platform has some of my favorite games of all time, and I love being able to share that love with others who appreciate it as much as I do. Cheers, Anthony! May this forum continue to grow and celebrate these often overlooked systems! Also, here's one of my favorite NEO-GEO advertisements:
6. Hi everyone. Mike here with my first official post on The Official NEO GEO Thread. I recently made this video about the NEO GEO Pocket Color and I wanted to share it because I think the NGPC needs more love. It's such an underrated handheld with a great library of games. Definitely pick one up if you can find it for a decent price.
7. Well, I received the replacement chips today and soldered one into place (I got five for $2.50). Anyway, it still doesn't work. Atari is still getting power, but there's still no image on screen with a cartridge plugged in. I don't even see a change in the snow. I am also not getting that "clicking" sound from the switch box itself that indicates it is working. Again, it works fine as a pass through for other consoles. At this point, I'm thinking it might be the Atari itself, but I don't have another box to test it with. Does the switch box have to make that sound or are there some that are quiet? If it is the Atari, any suggestions on where I can look? I'm not that technical and I've already invested around $40, so I might just write it off before I spend too much money on it. Do you think it's worth fixing? I own an Atari 400 with a RAM upgrade, so I believe most of the 5200 library is available on that. But I love the aesthetic look and feel of the 5200.
8. Son, I am dissapoint.

9. I did have a cartridge in -- Dig Dug -- and it didn't work. However, I think the link about the chip is the route I'll go. There's an electronic store that I believe might have the part. I'll replace it and report back. Thanks for the suggestion!
10. Hello everyone! I've got a question about an Atari 5200 I recently picked up on craigslist. It's a 4-port model and came with all of the appropriate cords and stuff. I took it home and hooked it up and I could not get it to send a signal to the television. Curiously, the red light does come on the console itself, so I believe it is getting power, but the television does not display a signal at all. I tried on a couple of different TVs and got the same results. Wiggling the cord doesn't help either. I read on another forum thread here that the switchbox itself makes a "clicking sound" when you power up the console. However, I didn't hear any sound when I powered mine up. It does, however, allow another console to pass through it via the antennae plug in, and does display that video signal. Anyone have any idea what it could be? I was assured by the previous owner that the console worked the last time he plugged it in. If it is indeed the switchbox, does anyone have a homemade one that I can buy from them? My solderng skills are not up to par with creating one from scratch. Thanks and I look forward to your responses!
