#4240183 Astronomer 2600 now has a patch that you can earn

Posted by ZeroPage Homebrew on Sun Mar 17, 2019 11:15 PM

I did my best last time and only reached 12 or so for my top score but I'll have to give it a bunch more tries! I'd love to earn the patch.

Please tell me someone else has reached or surpassed 20.  The Brotherhood could use a few more geezers gazers. ;-)

#4238891 This is not Ultima (Atari 2600)

Posted by ZeroPage Homebrew on Fri Mar 15, 2019 6:18 PM

Wow, this plays so well. I LOVED the Ultima series and played them extensively on my C64 so you can imagine how happy I was to see this posted. I've been waiting for an Ultima-like tile based 2600 RPG for so long, especially after seeing the now-abandoned Homestar Runner WIP game.

Looking forward to showing this off on an upcoming ZeroPage Homebrew episode!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE WINNERS AND NOMINEES! Here are the results of 2018 Atari Awards!

There were so many amazing games released in 2018 and we were so happy to honour all the hard work that the developers put into the games, demos and hacks. Thank you to Brian Matherne and Albert Yarusso for co-sponsoring the event and to everyone who watched the show live yesterday on our Twitch channel! Also I want to thank my co-presenters Darcy, Aerlan and Tanya and also Corey who ran the audio/video mixer during the show!

We would love to hear YOUR thoughts on the Awards show!!

- What did you think of the categories? (more? less? separate some? consolidate some?)

- What did you think of the results?

- What did you think of the voting process?

- What did you think of the nomination results?
- What did you think of the awards presentation?

- Other thoughts?

I will take this as a good sign as well! I have had very good feedback on FB posts and on the YouTube video post so I think most people enjoyed the Awards. :-) I'm hoping there will be additional constructive feedback as time goes on so we can make next year's 2019 Homebrew Awards even better!

Good plan, I'll add the info to that thread just in case people missed it in the sub-forum. :-) Thanks for the suggestion Karl!

I was surprised there wasn't more feedback.  Maybe that's a sign of how well done the awards were done?  icon_smile.gif

Maybe it would be good to bump the Atari Awards topic in the Atari 2600 forum just to make sure people know about it, though?

Does the winner get cash, free food at fancy restaurants, and groupie tail? If so, look out 2019, here I come!

That looks great! I can't wait for a playable version as it was one of my favourite games on the C64.

Please incorporate AtariVox for the speech!!  'PAD 5 PLEASE!'

I got a little start on it but need to put it back down due to tax season and a home emergency- so here's a little bit of progress:

Thanks so much Stan and Thomas! It was a huge undertaking by everyone involved and looks like it all worked out in the end. It was a fun time and I can't wait until next year to do it all again!

And a big thanks to cimmerian and his team for putting all of this together!  It was absolutely fantastic!

Great show yesterday. Thanks a lot to all the organizers and hosts!

ALSO, we're looking for feedback of what everybody thought of the Awards Show in this thread!

#4220606 [WIP] Bag Boy

Posted by ZeroPage Homebrew on Fri Feb 15, 2019 5:18 PM

I was looking to stream Bag Boy on ZeroPage Homebrew today but unfortunately it only displays a black screen when I start the game on my hardware. I suspect this is due to a initial unstable line count on the first frame when the game begins. Sadly I only have a suspicion of what's causing the issue but not how to fix it. :-(

I still have things I wanna do with the graphics to give a more varied experience. And then depending on how much space I may try to improve upon the simple walking movements and may tweak the playfield a bit. Overall I am pleased. Once I finish with the virtual Sprite behavior I am going to add power ups and bonus items.
